Has any body tried having all your LB in Zone with 15 in the ZONE SPECIALIST VA?

That seems like a huge gain (30% speed, agility, and vision) for your LB on every play. My only concern would be how they would play the run if they are in zone.

If I am not mistaken, the Zone Spec ability ceases to function once your player picks up on the ball carrier. So in your exampl, they would be in Zone using Zone Spec until they pass the vision check that reads the play is a run and the LB begins to pursue the ball carrier.

so it is only while they are actually in the zone on a passing play not necessarily the entire play, any one else read the same thing?

Just as a reference point, the description:

This player is best in zone coverage. Each level of Zone Specialist gives a +1% bonus to speed, agility, and vision when playing zone defense.

That is the truth.

There are several DC's that use zone coverage even on running plays aan have fairly decent success with it. However, they have players built specifically for the zone, so they will be more effective than say a standard build playing zone. What makes the build a little different is that the players have slightly higher agility and vision, often sacrificing a little speed.

So can you develop a core of LB's built specifically for the zone, use Zone Spec, and be successful, yes and no.

Zone Specialist ceases to have effect the very tick the defender reads run. So it will help with the vision check but then that's it.

There is a team in pro that plays all zone defense with zone specialist, and jack hammer. It's pretty damn good too.

I could have swore that Zone Spec continues to work until the individual player recognizes the play. You often see a defender with low vision continue to play zone until they pass the vision check, regardless of the play type. It is with this example that I question when Zone Spec ceases to work. The VA's description does not state anything about play type, just about playing zone.

You said what I said, but with more words.
