I was looking at the open builds on the teams I'll be playing this season and noticed something on one of the defences. They have decent CBs, LBs, and an SS, but their FS is one of the worst I have ever seen. My punter would be better at coverage than thus guy. Any ways...

I was hoping for input on what plays I could call to burn this guy deep. I was hoping for 3 or 4 plays that typically have a WR matched up 1 v 1 with the FS when the D has basic tactics. Any input is appreciated.

And if they use man, especially if they use a lot of cover-1, you might want to use plays with deep out or corner routes if the FS is bad enough not to get over to help the CB in time.

Im always a fan of the TE Drive route, use both the shotguna nd the singleback and wing it out there. If your TE has enough speed he will get by the LB and just have to face the FS in front and the lb from behind.

If there is 1 position that is the least effective on D, it's the FS. You can still exploit his weakness, but he never really covers M2M. Only DPC would have this. You will still have to beat the CB

But yes, most of their role is a safety net. Either making tackles on pitches, being the 2nd man going after the WR (Since he is in a zone, he can be and usually is all over the pass), or playing as an extra CB.

It's tough to "exploit" a bad FS, but your entire offense will really benefit from playing against a bad one.

Put your TE or pass catching RB in at FB and run the play "flares".

I agree. Even if I had the best one, I would still say I need a better one. Either way, if there is a spot to be weak, then this it the spot. Play him in cover2 and forget about him. He will have the least PD's and probably not too many tackles either.

As I said earlier though, the DPC can make a good FS effective.

Too true. In alot of cases the FS is there as a sweeper cleaning up loose ends. A great on will make plays everywhere, often covering for a mistake elsewhere, whereas a a poor one just won't do much at all and 1 broken tackle or missed PD is more likely to give you a big play.
