I'm doing an equipment overhaul on my powerback, and trying to figure out where to distribute. Everything was on strength previously, but he was underperforming. His basic build w/out equipment is about 74 str, 73 spd, 65 ag, 65 car. He has 34 equipment pts to play with.

Any help would be much appreciated.

a) 90 str, 80 spd, 65 ag, 75 car

b) 85 str, 85, spd, 65 ag, 75 car

c) 100 str, 73 spd, 65 ag, 73 car

d) 90 str, 80 spd, 70 agility, 70 car

e) 95 str, 80 spd, 65 ag, 70 car

f) 90 str, 85 spd, 65 ag, 70 car

I dont know if my math is right on all these, but these are the basic options.

Please let me know which one you'd pick, or if you'd go a different route. Thanks in advance guys.

I'd go somewhere around B, but probably with a little more speed and carrying (80-85 str, 90 spd, 75+5 car+steady grip).

Not enough speed on any of those.

How much speed do you think a power back needs? I always thought that the strength should be highest, followed by speed, carrying, and agility, but this is my only powerback, so I really don't know.

I like 90-100 personally, but others disagree.

My choice would look more like
94 str (Most EQ), 84 spd (Some EQ), 60 ag, 72 car

I would take this build over any of them. But if one happened to have some good ADV EQ, that could alter choice greatly.
Had a power back on a team with +1 strength / Power Through, and +2 Carry / Stiff Arm ADV EQ. That gives him a huge advantage.

In my opinion, strength and agility >>>>>> speed. Why does a powerback need speed? He's not supposed to be able to outrun people, he's supposed to run them over.

My powerback, who has been a beast his whole career, doesn't even have speed to the 3:1 cap and I'm not planning on taking it there.

A beast, I think not, he has never averaged over 10 yds per carry. OK, but not a beast.

You don't average 10 yards per carry when you play against real competition. He has ALWAYS played in a league where he is on the low end of suggested levels.

Because at higher levels you will never run over everyone... You need to make as many yards as you can before you make contact or are taken down. This is why speed is important.

But go ahead and keep thinking speed isn't important.

I never said speed is not important, it's just not as important as some of you make it out to be. Also, you're bulding a combo back, not a power back, when you add that much speed to your build while neglecting adding more strength & agility.

I'm not saying someone is wrong putting that much speed in a build, but this thread is about powerbacks, not combo backs.
