Which do you prefer for DTs and why?

Looking at all the VA posts and Heavy Weight being the top VA recommended to the entire Dline, for NT and LDE (containment DE) would Brick Wall be a good # 2 or 3 VA?

You get alot of tackles and you see the Ballcarrier "jumping" forward on alot of them, get Brick Wall. DTs should be fine considering their strength, DEs maybe have to rely more heavily on that VA.

Heavy weight is better than Brick Wall because It can help you get to the ball carrier better. But if you had both it would be nice.

Heavy weight really shines on run plays, when your build is good already.

I'd rather have heavyweight, up to 5 points in JtS, at least 10 in power tackler, and possible some in pass rusher before considering brick wall.

Hope there is more to HW than just the knock down bonus. If not, please explain how you perceive knock down working in the roll progression that helps during the play. Thanks.

HW is just a knockdown bonus. Roll progression goes:

1. Break Block roll
if win-> go to step 2, if lose->
2. Reverse Pancake roll (augmented by heavyweight)
if win-> pass go, collect 200 dollars, if lose-> go to step 3
3. Stun roll
if win-> run directly into the next offensive linmen because Bort hates you, if lose-> go to step 4
4. Slide a millometer sideways and go back to step 1.

Thanks. I looked up tpaterniti's roll progression thread again as well. Even though HW is only a reverse pancake bonus, I like it because winning the "roll hold block vs shed block" roll doesn't guarantee getting completely by the O-Lineman, whereas pancaking him does.

So is it only a single "break block" roll? In my mind break block and shed block would be different, but I am seeking an answer for that on the forums. Made a topic: http://goallineblitz.com/game/forum_thread.pl?thread_id=3161367

Yes, it's just a single break block roll. There's a thread from a few months back where Bort walks down the inner-workings of breaking blocks.

there's no difference, or that is, the difference is not what you are thinking. shed block is an SA which gives a bonus to the break block roll which occurs when linemen engage.
