my 1-16 in parenthesis before team name
(1) Silverymoon Elves (16-0) vs. (15) Portland Pimps (9-7) – Portland was able to hold off the Elves’ offense in game 13, but had no offense. Expect more of the same and a low scoring Elves victory.
(2) Torrance Spartans (15-1) vs. (16) Collinsville Pirates (7-9) – Spartans actually started Collinsville’s recent 3 game slide, but the Pirates backed into the playoffs. That’s cute and all, but “one and done” are the words of their day.
(3) Las Vegas Legends (14-2) vs. (14) Austin Lumberjacks (9-7) – Legends won their matchup in the early season, but it matters little by now. Austin has the talent to pull the upset, but the lack of team chemistry could help LV. LV will win, but not by much.
(4) N.H. Hounds (13-2-1) vs. (13) Buffalo Badasses (9-7)– I said it two days ago and say it still, New Hampshire is on upset watch. The Hounds won the regular season game by just a field goal in game #4, but Buffalo will win by two possessions to rule the day.
(10) New Orleans Golden Kangaroos (12-3-1) vs. (5) Miami Canes (12-4) – New Orleans took the regular season matchup but Miami is looking for revenge. The overall matchup actually gives the advantage to the road team. I’m partial, I know, BUT LET’S GO CANES!
(6) San Marcos Rivermen (13-3) vs. (11) Lone Star Bats (9-6-1) – S.M. got through the Bats in the mid season, but Lone Star is not the same team as 7 games ago. A good win against Dallas ended the regular season for the Bats. Prediction? San Marcos in a surprisingly close game.
(8) Raving Mad Dawgs (12-4) vs. (9) Anchorage Maulers (12-4) – Could be the best game of the first round, Raving one of the first matchup and has home field advantage thanks to it. I think the Dawgs hold on in a very close matchup, can anyone else say overtime?
(7) Tucson Nighthawks (13-3) vs. (12) Dallas Strikers (10-6) – Dallas fell out of the top 10 after losing to Charlotte, and I suspect will be knocked out of the playoffs by Tucson. It will be a close game, but the spoils will go to the Nighthawks.
Next round – reseeded:
(1) Elves vs. (7) Mad Dawgs
(2) Spartans vs. (4) Canes
(3) Legends vs. (6) Nighthawks
(5) Rivermen vs. (8) Badasses
