I never place in any points into confidence ,I suppose it makes your player better handle missing a tackle and getting beat deep and keeps his morale up. But is it worth it ?

is confidence useful?
yes
should it be a higher priority than speed, agility, vision, strength, jumping or catching? no.
in my opinion, a SS would benefit the most from missed tackles on runningbacks but... who really knows how morale works and again, it isn't a priority.

Saw a post from Bort a while back that confidence and the Never Give Up VA help you get up quicker after falling down. Which is important with these elusive backs.
I think it also effects aggressiveness ie: likelihood of going for the pick vs playing it safe.
LIke in a punters decision to kick for a touchback or go for the coffin corner.

Does your player play optimally on every snap? Stamina helps a ton with consistency, as does confidence IMO.

I don't think anyone knows for sure its exact affects on any position. Just to play it safe, i think if you're lvl 50+ you should have it above 40 (easy to get it there with just training, and perhaps a tiny bit of sp if you have some leftover every once in awihle

The thread in which the bar formula has been cracked has revealed that confidence is a factor in every single bar. I'd make the leap to say that it probably is a modifier in almost every roll that occurs in the game. In other words, don't ignore it.

exactly! I've been calling confidence a +/- modifier since like season 3. Who knows how the hell it truly works, but it keeps your morale from being expose in-game, and probably helps your overall effectiveness on random rolls. Just like Bort commented tonight how there is a +Clutch modifier in just about every single roll, there is probably a +confidence in those rolls as well.
