Sometimes, it's just time for a change.
After a series of tough times in Seasons 8 and 9, the Whistler Warriors have decided that it was time for a change. The Warriors won their conference championship in Season 7, following it with a 10-6 record in Season 8 then a 6-10 record in Season 9, with the team appearing to fall apart at the seams. Some major defections left the team crippled going into season 9, and they battled chemistry problems all year.
However, the team has now been sold to a new owner, Wei Wu Wei, who has put the team through a total image makeover.
“Whistler was a great team, and still has a very solid base to build upon,” Wei commented at his press conference, “It was just time for a change, time to shake off the bad memories of the past two seasons and come out fresh and ready to tackle Season 10.”
“I'm proud to announce that the team will now be known as the Red River Rebellion. The colors will be brown and blue, and we will be releasing our new logo and uniforms very soon.”
“We've also brought in two new coordinators. TeddyKGB for the Offense, and ssgtbrown31 for the Defense. These two are well accomplished coordinators who have the knowledge, talent, and skills to lead this team back to the championship.”
Some of the players were excited about the change as well.
Chris Cappello, the team's starting RB since Season 5 said, “Yeah man, we have a great team here, and we just weren't getting the job done. There was simply too much going on for us to focus on what was important: Winning.”
“It's nice to get some new blood in here,” ROLB Doug Swift added, “Now we can start to really come together as a team and let our hard work show in the W column.”
“Wei is a well known Offensive Coordinator, and I have no doubt that he can help lead our offense back to the explosiveness that it used to know,” said team leading WR Waterboy Tlosk.
Wei has been hot on the recruiting trail, already bringing in a slew of new talent for the team. Expectations are high for this Canadian AA team.
Wei ended his press conference with this:
"The name is different, but the goal is still the same."
"We WILL make it to the Canadian Pro League, and we WILL do whatever it takes to win the Mountie Bowl."
