It was the first playoff game. The two teams had battled back and forth and as the 4th quarter ran down the score was deadlocked at 28 apiece.
My backup QB had played well, but sparingly so far, completing 7 of 8 passes with no mistakes. As he entered the game, starting from his own 20 yard line with only 1:38 showing on the clock, he knew there was little margin for error.
Stepping back to avoid the fearsome pass rush, he knew the defense would be dropping back 6 or 7 defenders to cover his 4 receivers. With pin point accuracy, he had only seconds to find the open man and deliver the ball where only his receiver could catch it.
Like a surgeon with finely honed skills he struck. First 14 yards, then 18. The defense knew what was coming, they knew he had to pass, but they just couldn't stop him as he attacked them with strike after strike finding it's intended target. Another 12 yards and then finally, a 17 yard pass to bring them into easy field goal range, from which the kicker would hit an easy chip shot to win the game.
4-4 for 61 yards when it counted most.

Splitting time and only taking half the snaps against USA AAA competition, he threw for 3,000 yards and 29 TDs. Ice water runs through his veins. Nothing less than a championship will satisfy him.
