There has recently been news that HB Bobby Winland has been debating whether or not to retire. We managed to speak to him earlier about this and answered any questions we had.
Reporter: Bobby, You have been here a very long time and are still a great player. Is this rumor true? and if so... Why all of a sudden are you going to hung up your cleats?
Winland: Well first i was 100% on retiring due to being able to get my 3 boosts this season but now im only about 50/50 on it. If i can get the money to get those 3 boosts in than i will most likely play 1 more season until i hit my decline. Its not what i want to do its just something i need to do in order to help my Agent work with the players he also works for and helping him would allow me to give any advice to those younger players.
Reporter: You have had a roller coaster career along with a very troublesome one. Do you have any regrets during your career? if so what were they?
Winland There is way to many regrets of my career. First of all my attitude was terrible when i first got here and i let my ego get to my head after the whole Johnny Tomlin vs Winland fued. After that i wanted it my way and that was that. I demanded every carry and wanted the ball every down like most backs but the bad part is i was very vocal about it. My season 4-5 was my worst when i started trouble with 12thknight nd got rotted the end of the season which i deserved. Season 5 i went to a team i was "wanted" which was BS. I was signed just to rot until the team was sold to a GM who i actually worked with and was the starter for him until his GM who i wont name decided to trade me to his own team without telling me or the owner of this. He than did not play me for well over half the season. That was not my fault for the first time.
Reporter What advice do you have for newer players who have great potential?
Winland Dont be a me me me player. If your not a team player and just want stats for yourself than you will go nowhere in this game.
Reporter: Are there any certain players your mentoring? and can we expect a future Winland to be playing Halfback or any other position?
Winland Yea im currently taking Devin Hester and Terrell Owens under my wing and helping them out skill wise as well as having the mental skills to play football as well. As for a future Winland playing football? well i guess you will have to see now wont we.
Reporter: One more question. Are you a GLB Hall Of Famer?
Winland: Damn thats tough. Im not really anywher close to some of the better stat players on GLB but if we are going by performance and skills than i will say yet. otherwise ill say no.
Reporter: Well Bobby thanks for taking time out of your day to come and talk to us and allowing us to get your story. We wish you the best of luck for your future and hope to see you in the Hall Of Fame one day.
