I think I am on the right track now that I got some more guidance and information on what stats are best to invest in on my SS. I started working on that about 7 levels ago and I think I am getting closer to where I should be at in the build. Let me know if you see any improvements I need to make.

Hmmm I think I have it open now.... my bad. I thought I had done it but I guess not.
I guess it's like the first rule of fight club is that there is no fight club.

You have chosen the coverage tree for your custom EQ upgrade, so you may want to STRONGLY consider sticking with things that will max you out in that area...

Your SS is on a track to become quite like my SS: http://goallineblitz.com/game/player.pl?player_id=1223439

I'd definately concentrate my next couple level up SP on speed, to max out the effectiveness of my SA tree selection. You do not give your BASE speed (nor your EQ that is modifying speed), so it is hard to guage how much speed you want, and how much "effort" to put there for your BEST SP usage, but I can make this comment:

The LESS competitive your current team is, or the LESS likely you feel you want to stay there for the long term, the GREATER effort you should put into building your primary attribute(s) up one at a time. Conversely:

The MORE competitive your current team is, or the MORE likely you are going to want to stay there long term, the greater effort you should put into building your SS across the board...

Example:
You are on a very sucky team, but locked into a 2 season deal. They have little shot at going deep into the play offs because your owners may TRY hard, but just do not have the GLB "skill" to recruit the sort of players needed to win titles. You want to build a GREAT cover SS, and move on to a team with a better shot at winning it all...

In this scenario you would NOT want to worry about your overall performance so much, nor fitting your player into an overall defensive "scheme", because no matter what you do, the team will be lacking the personnel to enact an overall plan. Your BEST build option would be to put all SP into speed, until you are a modified 70-80, then work all SP into a 1st cap on vision and agility, then work tackling to the 1st cap, and then Strength up to around 30-35.

Meanwhile, you are training JUST confidence and stamina on intense trains, and SAVING your Bonus Tokens for eventual AEQ upgrades.

If your Team IS competitive, and needs you to maintain your attribute balance because you are an improtant part of their total plan, you might want to consider working SP into:

Speed to a modified 65. Then soft cap vision. Then soft cap agility. Then tackling to 40. Then strength to 30. Then back to speed, and repeat.

All the while you are intense training stamina/confidence.

The differing ideas between these 2 near term build patterns is the first plan tends to make you more "attractive" to teams when they see a solid attribute a player can build around, thus allowing you a wider selection in your NEXT team. The second plan is designed to maintain your overall role effectiveness throughout your improvement process, as your CURRENT team will need you to have across the board improvement to keep up with competition.

Furthermore...

As a cover SS, you probably want to gear yourself toward "Long Reach" as your Vetern ability to target when you reach lv 25. "Ball Hawk" is a good one too, but requires a lot more AGGRESSIVE play to really kick in, and as the final line of defense versus deep passes, quite often Safeties will be required to play a little more conservatively; plus, Ball Hawk requires 40 jumping, and you'll be hard pressed to get jumping that high by lv 25, and still maintain your speed/agility needed to be a good to great cover SS.

You should definately NOT be investing SP into SA until you have soft capped Agility, vision, and tackling, and it isn't really a good idea to start SA build up until you (probably) have Vision/Agility at the 2nd cap. Obviously, you'll want to have your speed up around the 3rd cap (at least) before SA as well.

And a FINAL word:

Very soon now AEQ will become a critical part of your player's development. I really hope you are NOT using your bonus tokens from intense trains on 1 game +5 attribute boosts, but rather are saving them for eventual AEQ upgrades. If I were you, I might consider doing my next 3 or 4 trains on "normal" (in confidence), and collecting shopping tokens. I would not spend those shopping tokens quite yet, not until I know my team can foot the bill for a good AEQ piece. also, the higher your player level, the "better" your AEQ choices tend to become (they are also more expensive of course...)

If the team can pay for your AEQ, I'd be targetting a +1 Speed/Vision/Agility, with an SA +1 piece for my first purchase. Ideally you'd like a high Cover tree SA in your AEQ (swat ball/sticky hands/closing speed), but AEQ pieces can be so hard to find, and the normal trains can hurt your ability to boost AEQ so much, that I would not pass up ANY valid defensive SA in hopes of finding a "better" piece. I would also like to say that I would NOT take a +1 attribute/% modifier, unless it was deflect ball chance AND it was my last shopping token of the 4 with which I started searching.

These thoughts should carry you up to aobut the level 27/30 range. Hope they help.

That is excellent information. I appreciate the time you took for this write up. I will definitely use this to focus in my training.
