Apparently, if an OC spams too many of the same plays, he incurs a penalty. I need more information on this. Bort implemented it at the beginning of this season and I need to know the size of the penalty, when it occurs (after how many plays?), and what I can do to best reduce or eliminate it.

It seems most evident with fumble counts. My team had 7 fumbles against a team, possibly costing us a gold trophy because we spammed inside Weak-I runs. The irony is it was a great play and worked well, but as the match dragged on the penalty was increasingly apparent:

Is the penalty permanent and builds up over time or do I need to call a separate play every now and then and it resets the penalty?

Spamming plays is never a good idea.

The thing that bothers me is what if the defense is susceptible to something like the Weak I Weak Pitch because they have terrible tactics. Of course I want to call that play more often than others. So for finding a weakness in a defense my offense would get penalized?

Yeah you can't spam the same play over and over anymore without some pain.

Yes, the sim caused you to lose the trophy, not your AI...

What I'm most curious about is if anyone has info on what goes on behind the scenes of the update. Has Bort ever elaborated on this? I'd look myself, but since the update was announced a whole season ago, it's buried in topics.

I'm alright seeing 1-2 fumbles a game if it means exploiting a defense, even if I have to fight the update to do it. I just need to ensure my offense doesn't have 3 fumbles or more. I'm also curious how the update effects pass plays. Obviously fumbles by nature happen less on passes. Do the WR's just drop more, or what?

Yea and that's what I'm hoping to learn more about. As you mentioned, as an OC I of course want to exploit a weakness in a defense, but at the same time I want to keep the update happy. To do that, I need to know what the update's threshold is. How much can I exploit a defense before I should stop and use something else? What's the breaking point? Furthermore, what does the update effect? How much does the penalty rise? Is there a way to reset the penalty during the match? There's just too many question marks.

Does someone have a link to anything Bort has said about this? Any in-depth info on the update is appreciated, thanks.
