I will tell you this - Confidence is one of the most unknown skills. We know what agility does, we know what speed, jumping, catching, etc. all do, but we're not 100% sure what confidence does.
I feel that confidence is important for every position, and that EACH AND EVERY PLAYER should have confidence ABOVE 50. The skill positions need it more, and the players that are consistently involved in the play should also see higher numbers. Those that are the grunts, like offensive linemen, could probably suffice with lower confidence numbers.

Low morale effects all your attributes during the game, although its effect is less than that of Stamina.
Higher Confidence reduces the effect of negative Morale and increases slightly the positive effects.
Any situation that decreases a player’s morale will have the opposite effect for the opposition team.
So every catch a WR makes his morale increases and every drop in decreases. The more confident the more likely a player can shrug off a bad play basically.

And yes, confidence is very important in all positions.
3rd or 4th most important in most positions.

I like how when demonstrating them, he:
A) almost sideswipes the parked car.
B) blows right through the STOP sign without slowing down at all.
I was wondering about how important Confidence is for OLBs. Some guides people made have them VERY importanat, while others have it lower.
