3-1 last time
Down to the final four in the West and some great matchups.
1. Washington Wolfpack V 4 San Diego Lightning. The Pack didn't have the dominate effort that I thought they would against the Hogs, but they showed what they were made of in the 2nd half. They couldn't really get their ground game rolling early on and needed a late FG to go into the half tied. Street broke a long one in the third and Partlow Ground out tough yards in the 4th to seal the win. The WW D looked shaky at times, but 3 int's helped the cause. The Pack got lucky recovering all three of their own fumbles.
SDL came to hit especially in the 2nd half, causing 6 fumbles 3 by the TICK in half number 2. This combined with an INT by their D helped offset their own inability to hang onto the ball. Offensively SD went with a pure rushing offense and it paid off big time. Pho and Goddard both picked up over 220 yards running the ball. While their D did give up 464 it got the job done when it had to.
This game will come down to two things Who can stop the other teams running attack and Who can turn the ball over the least. Both teams have had issues with fumbles so this is going to be huge.
WW wins 45-31
2. Honolulu Hurricane Warriors V 3. Monmouth Evil Monkeys. HHW crushed the Minnesota Pass offense and threw the ball at will against them. Aside from one big play the Cannes were able to control the Marauder ground attack as well.
Outgaining MM by 150 and winning the turnover battle resulted in a fairly easy Hurricane Warrior win.
Monmouth took apart the Compton Offense holding them to 161, that combined with a 550 plus offensive yards from a very balance attack led to the easy Evil Monkey win. Monmouth needs to hang onto punts if they want to get much farther in the playoffs, dropping three against the Vikings.
This game hinges on two main things. HHW's ability to cause Monmouth to give up the ball and the Evil Monkeys stopping the Cannes passing attack
Evil Monkeys win 35-27
