Well, here it is, the 'Second Season'. Not as many games, but each one more important than the last. This is what we were all waiting for. Some hearts were broken, others were already prepared, knowing this to be a building season. We've lost a few along the wayside, deciding to give it up rather than gut it out.

Without any further cliche'... lets get into the predictions.

Eastern Conference:

Game #1 - New York Mustangs (#1) vs. Dalton Dragons (#8) - http://goallineblitz.com/game/compare_teams.pl?team1=1773&team2=1589 - This will be a tough pairing for the Dragons who are going to come into this game as the decided underdogs. The Mustangs are the USA BBB#2's Third rated scoring team with a solid rushing game that was ranked fourth this season. They bring that 10th rated overall defense with #2 against the rush. They have a fine special teams squad that was rated second in both punts and kicks. They face a Dalton team 13th Overall for Offense and 14th Overall for Defense and a special teams quad not to far behind the Mustangs at 4th in kick and punt. Still, I just do not think the Dragons are going to be able to put the fright into this strong Mustangs team. Mustangs win this 52-24.

Game #2 - St. Louis Knights (#2) vs. Chicago LMG Accountabillibuddies (#7) - http://goallineblitz.com/game/compare_teams.pl?team1=1591&team2=784 - The Knights have comea long way since the start of the season when this reviewer didn't show them any respect. They are the second highest scoring team in the USA BBB#2 and bring a deadly rushing game. No defensive slouches they are the fourth rated defense in the league. They face the 12th rated Offense and the 19th rated defense in a Chicago team that has been plagued by turnovers this season. I like Chicago, but I believe the Knights are going to pound down some beers and brats and make them cry in Chicago. I expect a more convincing win as well, then their regular season matchup. Saint Louis 72-14.

Game #3 - Chinese Bandits (#3) vs Pennsylvania Steagles (#6) - http://goallineblitz.com/game/compare_teams.pl?team1=1580&team2=383 - This should be an interesting game. We have the #4 scoring team in the USA BBB#2 in the Chinese Bandits going against the #17 Defense of the Steagles. The Bandits also bring the #6 Defense to face the #7 offense of the Steagles. Unfortunately the Steagles have had a rough coule games, facing the #1 and #2 team in the Eastern Conference in their last outings and I think this losing streak will exact a toll on them. I see the teeming billions in China rooting their team on to a 63-34 win over the Steagles.

Game #4 - "Quick Stop" clerks (#4) vs Atlantic City Aces (#5) - http://goallineblitz.com/game/compare_teams.pl?team1=1430&team2=758 - Two 12-4 teams meet in this matchup with either team certain to give the winner of the Mustangs/Dalton game a very tough second game. The Clerks have the 5th highest scoring offense and the Aces the 8th with the Aces bringing the stronger, 5th ranked defense to the Clerks 13th. There are some (Myself included) who think that the Clerks stole one from the Aces earlier this season. I am expecting the Aces to battle back and win this one from the clerks. 38-24 Aces.

Western Conference:

Game #1 - San Dimas Sea Monkeys (#1) vs Summit Station Stallions (#8) - http://goallineblitz.com/game/compare_teams.pl?team1=1193&team2=1533 - San Dimas rolls into the playoffs with the #1 rated Scoring, #1 Rated Defensively, and #1 rated Returns (Kick and Punt) and they will be facing the plucky Stallions who made the playoffs this season with a plucky effort The Stallions bring the 24th rated Offense and the 16th Rated D. They've got the strongest Field Goal unit, scoring the most points in the USA BBB#2 League this season, but this bodes ill for them as it means they have been less lucky at getting the ball into the end zone for touchdowns. I do not see the Stallions as being able to overcome these odds and expect the game to be close to the regular season matchup between these two teams. 79-12 San Dimas.

Game #2 - Savannah Skyhawks (#2) vs Lewiston Raiders (#7) - http://goallineblitz.com/game/compare_teams.pl?team1=678&team2=1426 - The Savannah Skyhawks bring arguably the best rushing tandem in the USA BBB#2 qith two of the leagues top ten rushers carrying the ball for them. This should serve them well as Lewiston's strength lays in their pass defense where they rank 4th in the league, but only 11th against the rush. Savannah brings the 6th rated scoring attack with the #1 rated rushing attack. On the slipside, Lewiston has the 21st overall offense against Savannah's 7th overall rated defense. Savannah has grown considerably stronger since they last played though and I give the edge to the favourites. Savannah 42-20.

Game #3 - Kansas City Predators (#3) vs Indy Hellcats (#6) - http://goallineblitz.com/game/compare_teams.pl?team1=732&team2=1506 - Indy has overcome a lot of adversity this season, starting out slow but coming on strong to go from being out of the playoff hunt into leapfrogging over some of the other teams for a #6 seed. The predators bring a well balanced team, ranked 9th overall in Offense and Defense to face the 15th rated Scoring team in Indy, with the 11th rated Defense. I expect the score to be closer this time than the last, but the predators will likely still come out on top. 32-21 KC.

Game #4 - Omaha Invades (#4) vs Gardner Paraplegics (#5) - http://goallineblitz.com/game/compare_teams.pl?team1=763&team2=1480 - This should be an excellent game. Omaha with its 11th rated offense facing Gardner's third rated defense. Gardenr brings the 10th rated offense against the 2nd rated defense in Omaha. Both teams have matured since they played early this season and this is a game I think is too close to call. There are no ties in the playoffs though, and I am going to have to root for the team I would rather face. (Disclaimer - I am on a team with some of the folks from Omaha in the pros). Gardner wins this one in OT 20-17.

The clerks were defintily a great team this year. I honestly dont see how we lose this one... I expected the win during the regualr season as well, so who knows. I think we fixed our mistakes fromt hat game. I also think we beat ourselves. we outscored them on offense, but gave up two 4th quarter picks that went for TDs. I think we addressed the headspace issues on Offense and we are looking to shutting down shop on the Clerks.

Well like I said, I'm on a pro team with some of the folks from Omaha and I just don't want to have to face them, so I'm hoping you guys fix that for me. What's funny is I know some of the guys from the Clerks as well from the same team. Not sure how we all ended up in the USA BBB#2

ROUND 1 -- Results

Eastern Conference:

Game #1 - New York Mustangs (#1) vs. Dalton Dragons (#8) - http://goallineblitz.com/game/game.pl?game_id=578709 - It looks like the Mustangs ran away with this one. I was close for the Dalton Score but off a bit for the Mustangs. The Dragons just couldn't hold the Mustangs potent ground game and while they put up respectable numbers in the Air, couldn't convert those yards into points.

Game #2 - St. Louis Knights (#2) vs. Chicago LMG Accountabillibuddies (#7) - http://goallineblitz.com/game/game.pl?game_id=578711 - Both teams proved me wrong, St. Louis by scoring about 10 more and the Buddies scoring about 10 less. This was another example of the Eastern Conference leaders reliance on the ground game. Both St. Louis and the Mustangs attempt to pound it down your throat. St. Louis also showed up with a punishing run defense that smothered the Buddies and kept them from establish any sort of balanced attack.

Game #3 - Chinese Bandits (#3) vs Pennsylvania Steagles (#6) - http://goallineblitz.com/game/game.pl?game_id=578712 - Was I wrong on this game. I had the right results but I had thought it would be more of a shootout then it ended up being. Steagles show up with a surprise defense and the Bandits have to win it in the 4th Quarter. Both teams showed up with a balanced attack and turnovers were about even so this looks to just have been some good old fashioned football and I am sure it was an exciting game for both teams to watch.

Game #4 - "Quick Stop" clerks (#4) vs Atlantic City Aces (#5) - http://goallineblitz.com/game/game.pl?game_id=578710 - While I had figured the Bandits/Steagles game for a high scoring game, it ends up beign the game I thought was going to be close. The Aces showed up with a stacked deck and earned redemption for their loss to the Clerks earlier this season. They evidently did it with a page from the Eastern Conference leading playbook. Run run run! It worked for them. That will likely teach the Clerk's for making fun of the Ace's HB's last name. He's neither a skunk, nor a pansy.

Western Conference:

Game #1 - San Dimas Sea Monkeys (#1) vs Summit Station Stallions (#8) - http://goallineblitz.com/game/game.pl?game_id=578705 - San Dimas was just too much for the Stallions. With a balanced attack, San Dimas scored 5 Passing TD's, 6 Rushing TD's, 5 ST's TD's and a Defensive TD. They're not looking forward to their next opponent though, not one bit.

Game #2 - Savannah Skyhawks (#2) vs Lewiston Raiders (#7) - http://goallineblitz.com/game/game.pl?game_id=578707 - Savannah matched up very well against their first round opponent. Lewiston's strength was in their defensive secondary, and Savannah plays more like an Eastern Conference team with its reliance on the rush. These two factors combined to make a mockery of my prediction as Savannah literally runs away with this one.

Game #3 - Kansas City Predators (#3) vs Indy Hellcats (#6) - http://goallineblitz.com/game/game.pl?game_id=578708 - KC wins this one about as I had predicted. They did it with about half of their team lounging around and phoning it in (half the roster is inactive) and it was a real shame a scrappy team like Indy who appeared to actually want to be in this game, weren't able to compete with the superior roster who got by on talent alone.

Game #4 - Omaha Invades (#4) vs Gardner Paraplegics (#5) - http://goallineblitz.com/game/game.pl?game_id=578706 - I didn't hide at all that I would have preferred that Garner won. It's not that I don;t like Omaha, I think they're a swell bunch of guys, mostly I just didn't want to have to face them in the second round since we share a team in common in the Pros and I don;t want to be knocked out of, or knock out of, the playoffs by guys I know. Omaha got out ahead in the first quarter and then looks to have done their best to rely on their stifling defense to hold off Gardner. Unfortunately Gardner suffered from the dropsies/fumbleitis, otherwise this would have been a very different game it appears.

Eastern Conference:

Game #1 - New York Mustangs (#1) vs Atlantic City Aces (#5) - Eastern Conference: - http://goallineblitz.com/game/compare_teams.pl?team1=1773&team2=758 - The Mustangs have been stampeding their opponents this season with a potent run game, and the Aces know it. The trick here is to see if the Aces can field a rush defense that will stop the Mustangs and give themselves enough time to put points on the board. I'm expecting the Aces have a plan, and will come to play. Of the 16 teams that were in the USA BBB#2 Season 9 Play Offs, the Aces have the 4th Rated Defense against the run for yards gained, and have allowed no rushing TD's. Of course they played the Clerks who have been more of a passing team this season. I expect this to be a much closer game than their first matchup. 31 - 24 Mustangs.

Game #2 - St. Louis Knights (#2) vs Chinese Bandits (#3) - http://goallineblitz.com/game/compare_teams.pl?team1=1591&team2=1580 - This should be another close matchup. Again we have a team who are focused most solely on their rushing game. The Knights are ranked #2 for yards gained on the ground during the playoffs and 11 od their 12 TD's this playoff season have come on the ground. The Bandits rate 10th against the rush for yards given up, and have allowed two ground TD's. Surely they know what they need to do to stop the Knights, but knowing is only half the battle and they are going to have to put in place the defensive game plan that slows the charge. I'm expecting some crazy blue face painted fan is going to suggest long spears set for the Knights charge but the GLB rules prohibit this tactic, so we'll have to see what they come up with. I believe this will be another close game, calling it very close to the other 37-24 Knights.

Western Conference:

Game #1 - San Dimas Sea Monkeys (#1) vs Omaha Invaders (#4) - http://goallineblitz.com/game/compare_teams.pl?team1=1193&team2=763 - Hubris can be a problem for this San Dimas Team. They've done so well this season there is always a danger they sit back and expect the wins to keep coming in. Their coach though has been heard all the way from outside the stadium where the press has been exiled yelling at his players that they need to stay focused on each game. The Invaders are a strong team and their record displays it. They also have some fine football minds gameplanning for them, so I do not expect a repeat of the earlier trouncing San Dimas gave Omaha. Omaha does have their work cut out for them as San Dimas has fielded a very balanced scoring attack this season. San Dimas fields the most prolific passing game of the post season so far, but also holds the 4th place for total yards on the ground, Tied for third for rushing TD's and has the second best yards per carry. They bring with this potent offensive scoring a very strong defense. They've allowed the fewest passing yards in this post season and have the third best yards allowed figure of 12 total rushing yards allowed in the post season. Omaha brings some tough weapons of their own. As the season progressed they scored increasingly more points and they have the Defensive MVP along with his less heralded but likely more dangerous team mate in the linebacker corps 'Shane Imdabomb'. Score is difficult to call here as both ST's are potent and could change the balance of the game. Still I expect San Dimas to come out ahead.

Game #2 - Savannah Skyhawks (#2) vs Kansas City Predators (#3) - http://goallineblitz.com/game/compare_teams.pl?team1=678&team2=732 - The Skyhawks field the most dangerous rushing duo in the USA BBB#2 with the MVP and the 7th Ranked HB backing him up. KC though, in beating Indy, held the 2nd Place finisher for the offensive MVP, another strong HB to fewer than 60 yards and no rushing TD's. Still KC's players seem listless and unconcerned about the game. Maybe it's all the great barbeque in KC causing one long, protracted food coma, but they're going to have to come out strong and pay attention if they hope to win this game. 41-36 Skyhawks.

ROUND 2 - Results

Eastern Conference:

Game #1 - New York Mustangs (#1) vs Atlantic City Aces (#5) - http://goallineblitz.com/game/game.pl?game_id=583767 - 31 - 24 Mustangs Predicted, 31-16 Mustangs Actual. Nostrodumbass did pretty well with this game. I think the Aces did quite well to hold the Mustangs to 31 points, if they could have produced just a little more on offense it would have been a much different game (Thank you John Madden for the for the state the obvious insights I have learned). Aces are the real deal, watch out to whoever plays them next season.

Game #2 - St. Louis Knights (#2) vs Chinese Bandits (#3) - http://goallineblitz.com/game/game.pl?game_id=583768 - Predicted 37-24 Knights, Actual 52-21. Prety close on the score here as well though the Knights scored more than I thought theymight. I was thinking the Dragons may be able to hold their potent running game to less production.

Western Conference:

Game #1 - San Dimas Sea Monkeys (#1) vs Omaha Invaders (#4) - http://goallineblitz.com/game/game.pl?game_id=583765 - No score predicted, Actual 106-7 - To be honest I spent the day worried about the score, I was thinking that Omaha had the tools to pull off a surprise and upset the Monkeys and so now I will have to transfer those worries over to Savannah. I was utterly surprised by the score. Omaha has a very strong squad but the League ST's MVP with superior blocking and kick/punt coverage really helpded to keep Omaha off balance and keep them from gaining any momentum. San Dimas has a punishing defense as well, keeping Omaha down to under 100 yards of total offense and their only score coming from an interception returned for a TD. Omaha just needs a little more depth, especially on the O-Line, to become a very potent force wherever they end up.

Game #2 - Savannah Skyhawks (#2) vs Kansas City Predators (#3) - http://goallineblitz.com/game/game.pl?game_id=583766 - Predicted 41-36 Skyhawks, Actual 41-7 - Quite the performance from the Skyhawks to throttle KC's Offense and keep them from putting up any meaningful points. Savannah's potent rushing game lived up to expectations, putting up the 41 points predicted. Skyhawks are flying into the conference finals on full throttle with their tanks nearly at full and a full load of ammunition. Should make for a tough game in San Dimas.
