Does anyone have a definitive answer on the impact of Closing Speed for a FS?

The definition states that you get the boost to catch a ball carrier. So this will have no affect of playing in pass coverage until the WR catches the ball, correct?

yes.thats what i see in replays. my OLB doesnt react really fast until a reciever catches the ball.

seems like a waste IMO

Nope thats just bad catching, and a quick FS, well maybe it helped a bit....but that receiver bobbled the ball for an hour

It works good for run blitzing the FS, and run defense in general, also on stopping screens maybe...

It does work for special teams as well, it has its place but its not a od-like ability

Your FS drops back into his zone just as fast as he goes for the RB.

Would you then recommend skipping? If so, for what?

this is what i'm thinking, too.

Closing speed works at high levels. I have 8 in it because of a +3 agility +1 closing speed piece i rolled a bit ago.

Is mainly for run defense which is helpful from the FS spot. Yea, First Step is annoying as it pushes you back in your zone quicker and usually when you get relatively close to the ball carrier you'll move a bit quicker at times. It isn't the same as ballhawk though. Still valuable for making plays. My FS has seen benefits on some plays this season

Closing Speed is one of the best SA's in my opinion. REALLY helps on pitches, getting the the RB and making a tackle for little or no gain.

I think Closing Speed helps my SS on Kick & Punt coverage.
