I'm fairly new, but from what I can tell you should put all your skill points into 1 of you major stats, like strength or blocking, until you get it to at least the 48 cap where it starts to cost 2 points for each +1 to attributes. That way, your players natural gains (where they get a plus to the skill from every level) do more for you. If you space out your skill points early it will hamper your long-run potential. I did the same thing with my first couple players and have been told I should retire them :-\. When you are putting your SPs into the main stat, you should then train your secondary ones on intense, since you'll be getting more bang for your buck with training points for stats that are a lower level. Then once they get to around 30 or so, start pumping SPs into them, then move your training on to your next most important stats.
