God I love this spreadsheet. 20 minutes to make the adjustments.
**I have made a modification to Mike Rogers' formula. It was a simple modification. I deleted the genereal Strength of Schedule. We still rank the SoSch against teams beaten, and the SoSch for the last 5 games, but since the general SoSch punished the best teams and rewarded the worst teams, it was invalid.**
1) Raykjavik Aggies : 67.25 : 13-1 : (T)1st
The updated Power Poll scoring system finally gives the Aggies the respect they deserve... the first week they stop deserving it. But even if you are the Aggies, there is no shame in losing to the Stampede. But how will next week's game against the Roughnecks affect them?
2) Rohrheim Stampede : 65.5 : 11-3 : (T)3rd
With a win over the top team in possibly all of WEPL, the Stampede send a message; the horses are back. Can any cowboy corral these colts?
3) Houston Roughnecks : 59 : 13-1 : (T)1st
When a gift comes packaged to your door, you don't question. Thanks to an easy opponent and the Stampede taking no prisoners, the Roughnecks are poised to take sole possession of 1st from the Aggies... the only people who can stop them now are themselves. Can they take Home Field Advantage for the Playoffs away?
4) Valencia Billy Goats : 56.5 : 11-3 : (T)3rd
Defending Champion Valencia reminds everyone that, despite the Stampede's momentum, Scorgasms defense and Aggies dominance, there is NO predicting the Championship. They are in the same shoes they wore this time last season. Can they make another spectacular run?
5) Multiple Scorgasms : 53.25 : 11-3 : (T)3rd
With the Aggies' loss, they are now officially the scariest rushing defense in the WEPL. If defense wins championships, then crown them King. But what if it doesn't?
6) Paris Musketeers : 45.5 : 7-7 : 9th
Underrated and begging for a playoff spot, the Musketeers kick, scratch, and bite for every inch they get. Rodney Dangerfield gets more respect, but can they get more playoff wins?
7) Oslo Berserkers : 39.75 : 9-5 : (T)6th
The fury of the Norwegian Hammer fell on the Maulers this week, improving every category you can be ranked in (except SoSch/W). But point wise they hold a slim lead on the 7 spot, and have a lot of ground to cover to break into the top 5. Proving themselves against the Scorgasms might just make that happen.
8) Oxford Eagles : 37 : 8-6 : 8th
Holding on to both a top half Power Poll Spot and a Playoff spot, they shot themselves in the foot after a loss to the AllStars. Was it a fluke, or a sign?
9) Bari Barracudas : 35.5 : 9-5 : (T)6th
Still reeling from their adjustments in upper management, the Barracudas are trying to keep themselves in the playoffs. A game against the struggling Eagles is now a ‘must win’, and their opponent from Alpha is dangerous.
10)S., Gl. Pol. Officers : 32.25 : 5-9 : (T)10th
The Pros are a different beast, but the SGPOs are going hunting.
11)DFools AllStars : 27 : 4-10 : 12th
With a win over the Eagles, they have essentially assured themselves their spot in the Pros next season. With a game against the Jayhawks next week, they can make it a lock.
12)Helsinki Horned Frogs : 25.25 : 2-12 : (T)13th
Forget the playoffs, just fight for the Pros.
13)Madrid Spartans : 23.5 : 2-12 : (T)13th
Ouch. Better luck next season.
14)Utopia Devil Dawgs : 22.5 : 5-9 : (T)10th
The best of the worst, but if they want to succeed they need to fix just about everything. You can only hide for so long.
15)Madrid Maulers : 17.5 : 2-12 : (T)13th
Someone took the teeth from this animal long ago. With the Stampede and the Dolphins staring them in the eye, the Mauled might need to see what it’s like in AAA.
16)Kansas Jayhawks : 7.5 : 0-14 : 16th
At this point, barring a miracle they are staring at a countdown to a new league. But with the AllStars coming next week, can they show signs of Pride? After scoring only 10 points all season and never allowing less than 44 points a game, providing ANY competition to their last 2 opponents will be a victory.
