My catches to drops ratio doesn't seem very good. I put on AEQ that gives +11% catch ball chance just before last game and I still ended up catching 6 balls while dropping 4. WTF? What do I need to do?

Look at this crap:

I'd suggest increasing Catching, Agility, and Vision.

Seriously, 55 Catching doesn't cut it anymore and 52 Agility doesn't help either. Lay off the SAs and get those up.

Increase your catching attribute if dropped balls is a problem. Might also want to increase agility too. There are also Veteran abilities that help with catching. There's a second chance one too.

one reason i ask and why i'm frustrated is that out of the top 4 WRs on my team, i have the worst ratio of catches to drops:

me - 44 / 16
wr2 - 38 / 11
wr3 - 31 / 3
wr4 - 26 / 5

yet, my attributes are better in almost every way to the other receivers. my speed is FAR higher. catching is close; ranges from 54 - 58 and i'm at 55. i'm average in terms of agility. i have SIGNIFICANTLY more stamina, confidence, carrying than all the rest. i have more possession SAs than all the rest, including sticky hands. jumping is more than 1 player, and several points less than 2 of them. vision is significantly more than the other 3.

the biggest difference is the fact that i'm so much faster. do i need much higher catching because i'm so fast? other than that, my jumping is 6-10 less points than a couple of the other WRs on the team, but i'm better off with every other attribute. i'm beginning to think that the really fast guys require far higher vision/catching than the slower ones ... i can't think of anything else ...

Though there are major problems with your build (it sounds like the rest of your team is even worse), you can't just compare your player's performance to another WR on the team and draw conclusions about it. You're facing different situations, defenders, routes, etc. Plus there's a big ol' random factor in GLB.

yeah i know its random & we face different defenders and such, but it just seemed odd that i consistently am dropping more passes than WRs who have worse builds.

what exactly are the 'major' problems with the build? i've been under the impression that WRs need so many attributes, that while i pumped up speed initially, i didn't want to neglect the confidence/vision/stamina/carrying/jumping, so they're all decent, but none are great. i think i just need far more catching that i thought, although i haven't touched it in a few seasons, and over those seasons i had 32 catches to 3 drops, so this season took me by surprise with the drops.

no but i figured 2 pts in it was ok to spend and i expected it to help with lowly thrown balls. apparently, as you can see in the replay in the OP, it didn't help much

more speed, agility, catching, and vision would help. less SAs, but that's too late obviously. if you want SAs, go w/ FS, QC, RR

The problems with the build are that your speed isn't high enough to be a true burner and meanwhile the rest of your key attributes aren't high enough to be a solid balanced or elusive receiver. At 29, someone who was aiming to be a burner would have roughly 104 speed (with EQ) and mid-60s Agility already while a more balanced receiver would have 68 in a primary and 60 in at least 2 supporting attributes. You have a lit bit of everything but not a lot of anything. The spending in SAs you've done without the supporting attributes will hinder your long-term success. For example, having 4 Head Fake and 4 Spin (+CE) at level 29 without the Agility or Vision to reliably fake out anyone is backwards from how you want to approach building a player.

You can still salvage the build and make a pretty decent receiver, though you'll never be as strong as if you had built better to begin with.

Hope some of this helps.

Drop ratio is a worthless stat. Look at target caught %. You have caught 50% of the balls thrown your way, your highest WR teammate is at 55%. Doesn't matter how you don't catch it- pick, drop, deflection, incomplete, etc. All that matters is how many targets thrown your way are caught and you are in the range of your teammates. All is well, you are level 29. Those drops will work themselves out by 40.

Do you use firefox and have the greasemonkey scout script installed?

For your build, I'd go balanced. What is your natural catching and speed at? I'd get your speed with EQ to between 93-97 (you can do that with level 32 upgrades or from switching your catching EQ. Get your agility to 60 and then get catching up to 60, then get them up to 68 and you can use EQ to get there once you have your speed in the correct range. Refrain from SAs until 40, you'll be set with 5 in each speedster for the most part.

Get these up via training and after agility and catching is set start pointing them with SP to hit the caps :

Jumping
Vision
Stamina
Strength

Then confidence & carrying.

Then come back for more of jumping or the first 2 Speedster SAs.
