east is a lil bit screwy last couple games. the baggers have beaten defiance and only lost to 1 and 2...lost with a smaller margin to guidos than they did as well as beat the rage with a higher point margin..../shrug

Pigs keep scoring the most on everyone, doesn't seem to matter.

I just read the source code for the Greasemonkey script. Very enlightening and it cleared up a lot of questions in my mind about why the Power Rankings look the way they do.

The power ranking script was written by, garrettfoster, and it uses factors that he determined were important. It has multiple factors but two are given more weight in his calculations.

Strength of Schedule: Calculated using the following formula

SoR = Total number of wins of opponents you have defeated - total number of losses of opponents that have beaten you

Quality of play: Calculated using the following formula

QoP = Actual total point differential - Predicted total point differential

This is essentially saying, "Did you beat the spread, and if so by how much.

Digging through the script coding it also calculates offensive and deffensive efficiency using very simple calculations

Offensive efficiency = Your total point scored / Opponents total points allowed * 100
Deffensive efficiency = Your total points allowed / Opponents total points scored * 100

It then draws upon another greasemonkey script that calculates preseason projected rankings and calculates where each team falls into the power rankings.

I think there are two primary factors in determining the position that the Guinea Pigs find themselves in on the Power Rankings calculated by this script.

Strength of Schedule: They scored an 11 using the above formula (My Bullfrogs score a 13 for reference)

Quality of Play (don't read anything into this let me explain): The Pigs had a statistical advantage over one of the opponents they lost to which means that the Greasemonkey script that calculates "predicted point differential" would have had them winning that game by some number of points. Since they did not win that game, they did not beat the spread. That one game is now seriously huting their statistical position in these power rankings.

The long and short of it is that these power rankings are highly suspect. They are the result of one persons determination of which factors are important and how much weight each of those factors carries. I might have calculated stuff differently, or added more or less weight to each of the factors. Don't take these things seriously they may or may not mean anything. The coding was fun to read though.

Thanks for checking it out Caseos. Honestly.. I am just posting these for entertainment and because nobody else is doing anything. I dont have the time to go through each weak and rate the teams.. if someone else wants to take it on I will discontinue with posting these. I just figured this was better then nothing

Like he said.. its meaningless.. but kinda fun to look at.

Thanks Caseos for the insight. I do find that interesting.

K.E., I really appreciate you doing these threads. It always gets some dialog going back and forth here. That's what I like.

Because you contract "I am".. so no need to contract "am not".. I guess you could try I'mn't as in "I'mn't having fun." But that's just weird.

Ok, we've descended in redneckese, what happened here?? I love it! lol

btw, keep up with the rankings KE. If nothing else they spark forum talk, and that's a good thing.

I also use the spreadsheet garretfoster made for rankings in another league to do them there. I haven't got the script to work per se, so I enter it all in the spreadsheet and post the overall for all 32 teams and then split it down to each conference.

This is the link to the post in which I use the same ranking's spread. They are pretty close to being accurate here, imho.

The spreadsheet is the basis for the script. It uses the same formulas, it just takes away the need for you to copy and paste the data because the script pulls it out of the database on it's own.

At least that is what garretfoster said he did.

Does anyone think that the Cobras will lose a game next season?

I want you guys to look at our QB scouting bar and look at his throwing bar. He only has points in throwing right now, so vision, confidence, strength, and whatever else may help that raise is barely helping that bar. I would be scared if that made sense to you. All I am saying is that we all have beast builds!
