Why?

I know it can be time consuming.
I know it can be frustrating.

But it's just a game. Can't it be fun without spending hours planning every game? Is it an obligation you fill towards your players that you put in all the time?

If you see a bug, a glitch, a coding error, a Nerf, a tweak, an overpowered or underpowered skill, you know we all are facing the same issue. Chances are it will be addressed by the next season.

Just build your guys and develop your teams and have fun with it. That's the way I see it.

Now enlighten me.

Because why try if you're not giving it 100%?

It's a game.

Give 100% to your family, your work, your god and yourself. If you give 100% to this game, apparently you'll burn out in a few months.

Football is not a "game" tbh

Because to take that approach you need a whole team of players also willing to be satisfied with perennial losing and that is nearly impossible to find. What is your recruiting pitch? "Hey I see you have a level 58 CB. We would really like you to come play for our team. We won't be doing tactics, putting much time into the games, or really trying to win or caring if we lose, but we will be having a fun and relaxed time. Sure you *could* go start for a championship contender, but forget about that and come start for us instead. Maybe we'll win 5 games this season." Not surprisingly these pitches don't work too well. Players leave the team or try to, or are unhappy, and this creates a lot of stress for an owner. Why not just let them go find places where they will be happier?

Without all the effort, the team isn't going to be that good. I guess people aren't that interested in fielding career 3 win teams.

Part is the time consuming, part the bad sim, part the fact that players will decline soon. But most importantly, it has been over a year. The novelty has worn off for a lot of people and it's just not as exciting and interesting as it once was. I'm guessing some people folding found it becoming more routine and a chore rather than a super fun MMO

Also, who cares?

Team/forum atmosphere definitely makes us GLB's shortcomings. At least from MEM's perspective.

It works for the CPL

I am too competitive a person to do it half assed.

That has given me an edge in almost every season.

Seasons 1 and 6 we were in the league championship.
Seasons 2, 3, 8 we lost in the conference championship.
Season 7 we were the #1 seed and lost to the eventual league champions in Rd2.

Seasons 4 and 5 were our only truly bad seasons, finishing as 4th seeds and losing in Rd 2 both seasons.

Trust me, we only have a few builds that are special. Can you name a single defensive star on ***O*** EVER? But our defense is consistantly a better unit than our offense because of my gameplanning.

I don't consider it burnout when I have been around since day 6 of Season 1 and have always done EVERYTHING by myself for ***O***. One of only a few owners in the game I suspect that can say that. Burnout is 2-3 seasons of top play, not 9.

As said in the first sentence. My personality is too competitive to half ass it. In US Pro, half assing it is a ticket to missing the playoffs. For me, the time/enjoyment ratio for GLB is way past the point where I should call it quits.

Should have last offseason, but Season 8 was actually a breather because it required less time and energy.

Why not take a full season off?

When it gets to be too much of a hassle, why not "assign" 16-32 of your agents one game to OC and/or DC?

They could do their own scouting, knowing what team they had to plan for.
They would probably spend a good amount of time on it, not wanting to let the team down.
You could make it a team vote on who gets the playoff games, if you make it.
It would generate threads on the team forum.
I can't speak for all agents, but I know I would rather do this than have to search for another quality team.
It'd be fun.

Good idea. It is not for me though. I already asked if anyone wants to take over the team. The answer is no. Many people would have left GLB already but stayed on out of loyalty to our team.

Unfortunately, you cannot win in this league without taking it very seriously.

The Lightning may go the same way after the season if we cannot find an OC or DC for season 10. I do not have the time to run both sides of the ball and luckily this season BP was willing to run the defense for a season while I try to get use to running an offense again. If there are no takers by the start of season 10 it may be the last run for SDL as well.
