Guys, I'm building my first free safety right now. I just hit enough points to hit the first cap and I put that into speed. Should I save up enough skill points to hit the speed cap or should I go for a second attribute? If second attribute, which one? Build is open for you safety gurus to take a peek and give advice.

I'd intense train agility/vision while 2nd capping speed with your SP.

Sounds like you've got the right idea. One thing I'd for sure do is while you're using Peewee money rearrange your EQ so that it's on some combination of speed/agility/vision. Many people like to put it all on speed for a FS, but there are arguments for putting one piece on agility or vision.

In any case, unless it's AEQ you probably don't want equipment in tackling.

Agreed - Speed is your greatest priority right now, and agility or vision isn't high enough to start putting SP's in there.

you can use this for a reference. I think I built him pretty well. he won't start doing shit till I get his str up a bit though. Which is what I am working on now for him, after I finish getting agility to 68 nat.

Did you cap vision/catching before double capping agility? And if so why?

no way do you cap catching before 2nd capping agility, that's a horrible idea

Doesn't matter - just do the math and see where you got to the softcap fastest. The sooner you get there, the sooner the level gains are worth twice / three times as much. The SIM doesn't ask if you build up a 50 here or a 60 there first. All that matters is that you got that number.

Agility is approaching the 3rd cap, not the second.

And RAPB makes an excellent point.

There are two other things to factor in:
1) The efficiency of the Intense training pairs that you leave available to your player as you're capping the next available ability.

2) The return on the level gains. Agility, as a minor attribute for FS's gets only 1/6th of a point every level (before diminishing returns at higher levels) while catching get's 2/5th's of a point every level. That means capping a major ability on a FS is 2.4 times more profitable than capping a minor attribute. This assumes that you're interested in raising the ability (in your final build) significantly higher than the cap. Stamina, for example, you can get to ~40 and then just let it trickle upwards, therefore there isn't really 2.4 times more value in capping it.

I 68/61 speed and agility before I did anything else with him. I wanted to experiment with catching. now I am going back to working on agility to third cap. then str to 61.
