The player of the week seems to heavily favor offensive players. People tend to nominate and vote for the TDs, pass/rec/rush yards since those are the more flashy stats. The defensive players have a tendency to get overlooked since tackles and even to some extent sacks and ints are just less flashy, but in a lot of cases those tackles are what really won the game.

This week there seems to be a little hope for the defensive players (and even a kicker is getting a nomination), but I would be willing to bet that at the end of the season, the offensive players of the week will greatly out number the defensive players of the week.

I would like to suggest having an offensive and defensive player of the week so the defensive guys get some loving too. Heck, I will speak up for the special teams too...maybe add a special teams player of the week.

I saw that someone nominated their entire offensive line, so I want to nominate the Lowcountry Gators Defensive front 7. They held the Houston Spartans to a total of -4.5 rushing yards and no rushing TDs. I gamed planned specifically to stop the Spartan's run game since they came in as a pretty formidable running team, and my guys ran the game plan to perfection. The Gators have yet to allow a rushing TD this season.

Well, since this is a player of the game thread, I will pick one of the front 7. Everyone contributed and the stats were spread out across the team, but K. Williams (OLB) came out slightly ahead.

Lowcountry Ply Pnkd Tk MsTk Sack Yds Hry TFL FFum FumR PD Int Yds DefTD
LB K williams 52 0 10 0 0 0 1 2 0 0 1 0 0 0

For the record, I dont really like it when people nominate an entire unit, but whatr u gonna do?

How do people feel about this? Do we want two game balls every week?

also, here is the player of the week thread I ran last year: http://goallineblitz.com/game/forum_thread.pl?thread_id=2178042

as you can see, I think, its pretty even between offense and defense

Didn't mean to offend anyone by nominating our Offensive line. I wanted to nominate player or players who play had the greatest impact on the game. You can take out my nomination.

Richard Runabout. Seriously... in 20 plays he touched the ball 10 times and had 8 touchdowns.
