Ok here we go again.
RJ is in special teams breakdown therapy at the moment so I'm flying solo for now. If he gets out before tomorrows games I will add his Recaps and Predictions
CV 5-3 last week 12-4 overall RJ 6-2 last week 14-2 overall
1. Washington Wolfpack V 5. San Diego Lightning. The Pack haven't hit stride yet but they still continue to win games, until someone knocks them off they are going to keep their #1 spot. Their biggest issue so far has been that their 2 headed running attack has lost a head. Partlow's numbers have looked a little SIK so far this season. The passing game has been effective but they are still trying to be a run heavy team and 16 carries for 32 yards out of one of your star backs isn't going to get it done. Defensively they looked soft last time out, but they were able to pick off 4 passes to make up for their huge yardage deficit.
SDL has bounced back from their opening week nightmare with two solid wins. Last weeks shoot out with Spicewood was one of the more interesting USA PRO games in a while. If no one figures out how to control the Lighting's amazing return game they are going to be tough to take down this season. As impresive as SDL's special teams their D is a horror show. Their pass D was shredded for 800+ yards by Laurie and the Longhorns. They need to find a way to pressure the other teams QB in a hurry or USA PRO is going to run out of scoreboard light bulbs when they play. Lost in the Poor Defensive effort and unreal special teams game was a solid game by both SDL QB's.
WW wins 48-40
2. Minnesota Marauders V 9. Compton Vikings. The Maruaders finally won by something other than 5 points. The Minnesota running game put on another explosive show averaging over 13 yards per carry. They went hyper conservative with the passing game, but it has been enough to keep Defenses honest. Defensively the Maruader's need to be concerned with their secondary. LVF had little trouble picking apart the Marauder DBs, if it wasn't for decent pressure by the line and a few Freebird turnovers it might have been a different outcome.
Can someone explain to Tavaris Jackson that he needs to throw the ball to the PURPLE AND GOLD dot's. 8 picks and only 4 TD's through 3 games is one of the main reasons the Vikings are at 1-2. The outgained the Pack by nearly 200 yards by Jackson's 4 int's killed any chance they had to pull of the upset. They seemed to have fixed their week two Defensive problems and if they can cut down on the TOs they might be able to make a run for the playoffs this season.
MM wins 42-27
3. Monmouth Evil Monkeys V 8 Lincoln Navigators. The Monkeys offense has looked unstoppable of late going for over 650 yards in the last two games with a balanced mix of running and passing. E.D. Jackson has found his niche and LC is banging the ball into the endzone. Defensively the front 4 has come together and is blowing teams off the ball. Two big plays in the last 5 minutes made the score look somewhat respectable.
Lincoln has two huge problems right now. They miss Shonn Greene big time and William Shakspeare can't hang on to a kick. The once dominate Lincoln Ground attack was held under 100 yards last time out and The Bard lost 3 fumbles. The D is picking off passes to at least keep them in games, but they are giving up too many yards and without the ball control offense of past seasons the Navs are struggling big time.
Evil Monkeys win 49-28
4. Chicago Hedgehogs V 15. Dallas Vaqueros. The Hogs picked up an impresive upset win over the Navigators to run their record to 3-0. Tom Koziol is on fire lately and has led the offense up and down the field. Chicago is going to need to figure out their running game to beat the top 3 teams in the conference BUT they are looking impresive. Defensively is where they have surprised me the most holding the last two opponents under 300 total yards and completely shutting down their running attacks
Dallas is going to need to figure out what is wrong in a hurry or they are going to be heading to AAA next season. I'm shocked after the way the have been smacked around the past few seasons that they didn't go heavily into Big Heart. They can't move the ball and they can't stop anyone. Looks like another long year in Big D
Hogs Win 63-14
6. Honolulu Hurricane Warriors V 14. Las Vegas Freebirds. The Warriors seem to have corrected their week 1 issues and are looking like a force in the west once again. There always solid defense stepped it up big time in totally shutting down Mr. Smith. Offensively Stuart Wang is looking like a real QB not just someone that hands the ball off 9 out of 10 plays. If they can get their running game back up to a high level they are going to be scary.
The Freebirds showed flashes of life against Galk's guys. They were actually able to put together a ground attack to take some of the pressure off of Youngtana. Unforutunealy their inabilty to control the running game and force Minnesota into any turnovers while losing it twice themselves led to their 3rd straight loss. The Birds are going to have to get some takeaways to be in the game with the Warriors.
HHW wins 38-21
7. Spicewood Longhorns V 11. Parma Burglars. The Longhorns will try to come back from the crushing loss to the Lightning. As long as they don't give up 8 freaking kickreturn TD's this time out they should be fine. Hugh Laurie and Airhorn passing attack is one of the most amazing attacks in GLB today. With all the foucs on Laurie Bukka has become an after thought, which might turn into a huge problem for the opposition as they try to stop the passing game. Defensively and special teams are the issue in Longhorn country. It seems every time Laurie throws a TD he is back on the field two minutes later trying to respond to the one that was just scored by the other team.
Parma Picked up their first W of the year. Even though it was over Dallas it still counts as a W. The impresive Burglar Defensive line did their job stopping Dallas and the O looked solid both running and Passing the ball. Hopefully for RunHard this game was a good break to straighten out what had been wrong with his team
Spicewood wins 56-28
10. South Bay Spartans V 13. Bourbon Street Bullies. Week 4 brings us the annual BS BOWL. SBS needs to get MR. SMITH back on track in a hurry. Smith is the heart and soul of the Spartans attack and with out him they don't stand a chance on O. On the other side of the ball their pass D needs to step up. They made the Hurricane Warriors air attack look like the second coming of the Longhorns last time out.
BSB has got to figure out their D in a hurry. After getting rolled over by the Evil Monkeys they gave up 566 to the previously winless Roughnecks to fall 0-3. BSB is in danger of missing the playoffs for the first time in USA PRO.
SBS wins 28-27
12. Texas Roughnecks V 16. NY-CA Groundpounders. The Roughnecks exploded offensively to pick up their first win in the PRO's. Defensesively their is still a lot of work to do but a win this week will put them in a good spot to stay up here with the big boys next season.
NY-CA has been a big disappointment so far this season. I thought they were the best shot of all the Noobs to make the playoffs. They need to get the ship righted soon or they will be heading back to AAA in a hurry.
Roughnecks win 38-31
