So I have a FB that is primarily used for Leadblocking and thats it. He has been a beast in every season up until now.. and now he gets knocked down a lot and he isn't getting much push.
The philosophy was Agility to accelerate to the line, strength to push them back or pancake them and speed to stay in front. I also wanted a low vision to keep him running forward (not be distracted by "threat"). And blocking wasn't important as he would pancake everyone in his path. So what has changed?
Do we now need blocking to keep from getting knocked down? It used to be if I hit someone and didn't pancake them, I would engage and push them back.. now after 1 second I fall down.
What role if any does vision now play in leadblocking?
