The usual suspects, Quick Feet and Slippery.

The real question is, what next after those two? I'm having a hard time deciding on which lackluster VA to take third.

I think the next three choices are Scat Back, Clever Instincts and Short Yardage Monster.

Scat Back - Great if you catch a lot of passes downfield. I don't see how much of an impact it has on screen passes, though.
Clever Instincts - Think of it as a boost to Quick Feet for when you see higher level defenders.
Short Yardage Monster - This is appealing also, because sometimes all it takes is for one missed tackle behind the line of scrimmage for a play to become successful.

Clever instincts would be a good choice for a lower level HB to use until the next VA reset, unfortunately my back is lvl 55, so he doesn't face higher level defenders. I thought about streaky, but I don't have a full 15 VA points available (and I'm not going to gamble with a 68-32 ratio of good/bad games). I'll be trying out scat back since my player will hit the decline next season and there isn't much sense in holding onto VA points.

I will say this, though. Once your player starts to decline, Clever Instincts may be a good option then. You'll start to lose levels, so that could give him a little more longevity. In your current situation, though, Scat Back does seem like it may be the best choice.

You'll never lose levels in GLB - you may lose stats if Bort ever implements the 10 year decline that he's never discussed.

clever instincts is really good for people who are not boosters, or were not boosters, then became boosters.

We have a HB on my team that did not start boosting until season 4. He is a level 48 season 1 guy, and clever instincts is really working for him. Expecially since he has that at 10 and quick feet at 15.

I have a HB who's a level 49. I boost every season. I'm getting to the same point as Zero Tolerance. Soon, I'll have both Quick Feet and Slippery maxed out. I was thinking of Clever Instincts for the few higher level players I see in my league, but I'm also curious if Short Yardage Monster would work, because with an elusive back, some of my biggest runs came after a missed tackle in the backfield. Any thoughts?

I am a believer in SYM...BIG BELIEVER. Mostly because our HB on Rio has bruiser and sym maxed. ANd he is trucking people. Hardly ever see a run less than 3 yards.

If you have 8+ broken tackles per game (at least 20 carries) and some decent points invested in spin, i am thinking it will help you. Anything that helps you get an extra yard on a broken run play helps.

EDIT: Just looked at your player...hell yeah get SYM!!! He has 23 broken tackles in 3 games. hell yeah.

Well, it's 23 in four games, but I'm thinking SYM may help him too.

Yeah, I like the sound of SYM too. Scat Back, if you're used that way.

The thing is, last season I would've been all over Scat Back, but I'm only getting a reception or two a game now. So, I don't see a reason to pump VA points into Scat Back.

I understand where you are coming from. In my experience as OC of 3 teams, i choose the elusive HB as the receigving back. they ussually have higher vision and that helps bring passes in better. So they get the receiving HB nod (also they tend to run the ball less so the receptions even out the touches). Plus, after quick feet, scat back is the only other option other than slippery (only if you hafve lots of spin and at least capped strength). So it makes more sense for the elusive to have scat back.

If you are power:
Bruiser + SYM

Elusive (and same levels as the competition):
Quick feet
Scat back (maybe return man, but thats only if you are a...return man. like my HB
