I'm not sure what the criteria is for the Special Teams MVP, but it certainly doesn't seem to be exceptional performances on special teams.

Here's the leader's numbers (and I don't mean any disrespect, just stating facts)

Speedy McKillz (ranked #1) http://goallineblitz.com/game/player.pl?player_id=984843

5 KR, 126.5 YDS, 25.3 AVG, 0 TDS

12 PR, 260 YDS, 21.7 AVG, 0 TDS

Meanwhile, here are two of our guys' numbers from week 1:

Jay Flash (ranked #2) http://goallineblitz.com/game/player.pl?player_id=682754

6 PR, 285.5 YDS, 47.6 AVG, 3 TDS (didn't return any kickoffs)

Neon Leon (ranked #8) http://goallineblitz.com/game/player.pl?player_id=990345

2 KR, 46 YDS, 23 AVG, 0 TDS

6 PR, 235.5 YDS, 39.3 AVG, 2 TDS

So the guy with zero TDs and lower averages is leading the Special Teams MVP race, while the guys who have better averages and 2 or 3 TDS are 2nd and 8th???? (There's probably other players with better numbers too, I only looked at the guys on my team)

I have a feeling that defensive MVP is also based off tackles. GL if you're a corner back or safety! Unless you're a bad corner back, get beat and passed on a lot and make tackles after the receiver catches.

Maybe there is a minimum number of attempts requirement?

my mlb is still in the top 5 for the def mvp. So i think your right on the tackles.

I think bort put in something that considers the competition level, so it should "hopefully" work out in the end.

I love how a CB with like, 5 tackles and almost no pass deflections is beating my CB because he had one interception for a TD. My CB has a fumble recovery for a TD, more than double the tackles and is top 5 in PDs.

maybe it'll all balance out as the season goes on and 1 Int doesn't make all the difference.

I agree with want your saying...I just know peters has 19 tackles 5 PD and 2 int for the year...so I dont know if he is worth in the Defense MVP talks...its just nice to have him in it.

I'm not sure if that's the same player I saw, but there were some other really "wtf" picks up there.

edit: Im just going to say, I take it back about the Defensive MVP race, with each game played, its starting to make more sense.

My FS has 3 kick returns for 180 yards (60 yard avg) and a touchdown. He also has 2 punt returns for 173.5 yards (86.8 avg) and 2 touchdowns. Tell me he shoudlnt' be mvp of ST up to this point! and yet he ranks 8th.

This is why i believe this award is a joke. If bort and the other glb gods make an award like this. they should at least let everyone know what the scoring is for something like this, for an award of this nature.

I'll tell you he shouldn't be MVP at this point. He should be 2nd.

Our Punt Returner's (Jay Flash) numbers look like this:

9 Punt Returns, 367.5 yards, 40.8 average per punt return, 4 TDs. This is also including a game where he didn't get a single return opportunity because the other team went for every single 4th down no matter where they were on the field. Yet my guy is ranked #10. What's up with that?

(he doesn't return kickoffs)

And also, the new Special Teams leader is Lulu Stucru, who has these numbers:

40 kickoff returns, 1018 yards, 25.5 average, 0 TDs

2 punt returns, 13 yards, 6.5 average, 0 TDs

I guess that the MVP race is based on quantity over quality. The worst teams' players are going to get the award because they get to return the most kickoffs. Great.
