Q: Limiting Corey Smith to 287 yards, two touchdowns and an interception, and losing in overtime, what do you think about the Emerald Demons offense?

HL: They went yard for yard with us and came up with the points when they needed it. Corey Smith is a special player and he got a bright future. He's gonna to be giving defenses headaches for years to come. Their offensive line was good too.

Q: Going into this game, how did you plan on shutting down this fast scoring offense?

HL: We never went in thinking we was gonna shut down the offense. We just wanted to slow it down, get the ball in the hands of our runners and our QB, and keep Corey Smith off the field. We played it conservatively, maybe too conservatively. In the end, he got us.

Q: Gunn Slinger threw for almost 70 percent, outperforming Corey Smith in the numbers today, what are your thoughts on his progression?

HL: In my honest to god opinion, Gunn can match up with any quarterback in the league. He's starting to gel, and he knows it. His confidence is growing and we can feel it in the locker room. It took him awhile to find that out; he was nervous, but once he threw that first touchdown pass, he's been playing very good ever since that game.

Q: This is the second time you've lost in overtime in the past 3 games. What are your thoughts?

HL: We need to keep it together. Last time, we got beat long and gave up the touchdown. This time we let Ireland march up the field for the field goal. We need to keep it together. We need to put it all on the field in overtime, get that ball back, and end the game right.

Q: Being pushed to a two-way tie for first place, how will you rebound from this loss?

HL: The loss was heartbreaking, we thought we had it, definitely. A lot of us think that, with our offense playing like they were, if we would have got the ball in overtime, we could have put it away, but sometimes things don't work out the way you plan them to. But we can't sit on this loss. We got another game ahead of us, and we gotta look ahead, and forget about this. Being in first place doesn't mean much because there ain't no trophy for that. It's all about what we do in the playoffs. If we're going to win it all, we gotta fix our problems and play. We gotta get better every week.

Q: What can we expect to see against Stockholm next week?

HL: We're gonna step it up. T-Cains gonna go off, Slingys gonna throw a bunch of touchdowns, Hayes and Ashby gonna make some hell...Eagle...Speed, yours truly, we gonna put on a show. We're gonna keep it together and win.

Q: Are you guaranteeing a win against the Roosters?

HL: [laughs] I don't do that. You can't get me to do that. We're gonna give em what we got.
