Well I have always done this for WEAAA, so why not for WEPL. A lot of the teams I know from my time in AAA, but there are a few teams I don't know, so bear with me these first couple of weeks. Also After this week the predictions will only be for the Alpha Conference.
(So Zeta don't ask
)
London Monarchs (0-0) at. Lyon Dynasty (0-0)
Before I get started on any talk of football, my regards go out to Mike Rogers...In the words of Mavooo, get well soon brutha! I am not too familiar with the Monarchs, but they are certainly a team I have heard of. I am aware of the Lyon Dynasty from the days in WEAAA. I am also very familiar with the teams owner, drunckenmonkee(whats up!). Both these teams have struggled in the preseason. Both of them have only one win, and one of Lyon's wins was against the Monarchs. They both had a hard time last season as well. I don't see the outcome changing much from their preseason game, but I think that London will score.
prediction: Lyon Dynasty wins 45-17
Portland Rage (0-0) vs. Inverness Highlanders (0-0)
I am very familiar with both of these teams, because they were recently promoted to WEPL. I also happen to be very familiar with the Portland Rage...if you want my opinion, they are pretty good. Inverness had a tough preseason, and Portland's preseason was so-so. Some people are predicting Portland to go far in this league, but I think they have to prove it first. Playing a fellow promoted team isn't really going to prove much, but this is a good leftover matchup from last season. Portland beat all the elite teams in WEAAA1, except for the Highlanders. This was because they never played. This is Portland's chance to show that they were the number 1 team in AAA last season, and what a nice start to their WEPL run with a win.
prediction: Portland Rage win, hopefully a start to something beautiful.
Aberdeen Wrecking Crew (0-0) vs. Cardiff Bluebirds (0-0)
These are two teams that I really don't know at all. The only contact I have had with these teams is a scrimmage last season against the Bluebirds. Aberdeen went 4-0 in the preseason, and Cardiff went 2-2. One of the Bluebirds losses was to Aberdeen, and it was a big loss. Sure scrimmages don't mean much, but it is hard for me to go by much else. Neither team did very well last season, and I haven't paid too much attention in the offseason, so I don't know much to go by. I'm going with the Wrecking Crew on this one, from the little contact I've had with the Bluebirds, I'm not impressed.
prediction: Bluebirds will have a lot to be blue about, the get Wrecked, 45-10
E-City Mercenaries (0-0) vs. Paris Musketeers (0-0)
The Musketeers are back in the pros, after a one year hiatus they find themselves back in WEPL. Unfortunately for them they didn't come back with a gold trophy, and had to settle for second best. They did get their revenge in the preseason, so at least they have that. They have looked very good this preseason, and I don't think they will be going back to AAA this time around. E-City had a tough slate of preseason games, and managed to go 2-2. They also got a very tough first game, one which I don't see them winning.
prediction: Musketeers get the win, 32-20
Woodridge Lumberjacks (0-0) at Normandy Invasion (0-0)
Unfortunately the Lumberjacks are no more. Ever since season 1, I have wanted to play the Lumberjacks again. They might not remember it, but they eliminated my team in the playoffs in season 1. I won't get my chance to really get that shot, but at least it will be a W in the column. It will also be a W in the column for the Normandy Invasion. After winning AAA2 last season they plan on storming the beaches of WEPL, in an attempt to win WW2...or the WEPL championship...I forgot which one. Normandy shouldn't have a problem winning this game. Woodridge will commit suicide(or was that Hitler?)
prediction: Normandy wins, 74-10
Graz Grizzlies (0-0) at. London Hitmen (0-0)
The Defenders of the WEPL trophy begin their defense against the London Hitmen, another one of my old WEAAA buddies. Graz also has a 20 game winning streak going into this game. Graz has had a rough preseason, but I don't think that it will be rough for them during the season. Graz will bring the heat, and the London Hitmen will go down.
prediction: Graz begins title defense with a win, 55-27
West Whales Warriors (0-0) at. Berlin Ballers (0-0)
Both of these teams went undefeated in the preseason. However, only one of them can stay undefeated after this game. I'm going to say that Berlin is that team. I've seen them blow through AAA like it was nothing, and they have done some damage here as well. I think they will continue to do some damage by defeating the Warriors.
prediction: Berlin "Balls" 40-20
Greenwood Alley Cat (0-0) at. Black Forest Mercenaries (0-0)
The Mercenaries went undefeated last season, only to lose in the first round of the playoffs. I'm also glad to see the Alley Cat just get up here, being Portland's biggest rival. Here I think they will start off on the wrong foot, and start their WEPL career with a loss. They already lost to the Mercenaries in the preseason, and I think they will lose again in a closer game then in the preseason.
prediction: BFM wins it 30-21
Bonn Dynamo (0-0) vs. Antwerp Annihilators (0-0)
These two teams played a very close game in the preseason. Hopefully this one is also very close. I am familiar with the Dynamo, but not the Annihilators. I'm going to go against the trend here and pick the reversal of the preseason game. Antwerp is going to turn the tables on the Dynamo, pulling out a win. This should be close though, being decided in the final minutes.
prediction: Antwerp beats Bonn, 27-24
Footballforum Fighting Danes (0-0) at. A Team of Ice and Fire (0-0)
An old rematch of AA2 rivals. I am familiar with both teams, and have had many good matches against the Fighting Danes. I'm not sure how much Ice and Fire have changed. Both teams should do alright this season, but I'm going to take FFFD to win this one. Once again it should be a close game to entertain the masses.
prediction: FFFD gets the victory, 27-17
Paris Dream Bolts (0-0) vs. Edinburgh Black Knights (0-0)
These two teams played in WEAAA's season 6 championship game. The Black Knights won that time, but I think this will be different. WEPL hasn't been kind to Edinburgh, and they haven't adapted as well as Paris has. This should be a game won by the Dream Bolts. I don't know if it will be close or not, I don't know much at all in this league, but I'll learn the ropes.
prediction: Dream Bolts win, 35-20
Paris Philharmonic (0-0) at. Stockholm Meatballs (0-0)
These are another two teams that I know from WEAAA. The Philharmonics are a favorite team of mine. They are very spunky, and sneak up on a lot of people. Stockholm is also a good team. Philharmonic had a rough preseason, and I think that will continue in this game. Stockholm should come out with the win.
prediction: The balls of meat get a win, 40-24
Belfast Commandos (0-0) vs. Madrid Raging Bulls (0-0)
This game is going to be especially hard for me. Both teams are unfamiliar to me, and they both lost all of their preseason games. I don't like flipping a coin to determine my picks, so this is what I will do. I am going to go with my favorite conference...which is Alpha of course. Belfast will win this game, watch out Zeta!
prediction: Commandos win 24-20
Turin THUNDER (0-0) at Rivals Mainboard Pimps (0-0)
Turin was absolutely crushed by the Pimps in the preseason. I don't really know the Pimps as a football team, but I sure as hell know they exist. The Pimps are the reason why Portland changed there name, and they are always entertaining. I am looking for similar results to the preseason game, the Pimps will dominate Turin once again.
prediction: Pimps win 56-10
Hattgenstein Volunteers (0-0) vs. Grass Root Divots (0-0)
The Divots are another team that I know from WEAAA. I think they are going to beat the Vols in this one. Hattgenstein is annoying to type, and it sucks that they are in Alpha. They have already lost to GRD once, and I see it happening a second time. It'll be close, but no cigar for the Volunteers.
prediction: GRD wins this one, 35-27
Team Perkis (0-0) vs. Korb Destroyers (0-0)
I got into a slight altercation with Team Perkis during recruiting, so I am excited to play them this season. It should be a good game. This one might not be as good, Korb has only beaten Woodridge in the preseason, and once again I know that preseason doesn't matter much, but I'm going with Team Perkis...I know these got shorter and shorter, but I'm really tired and my pinky is killing me(kind of a long story). So hopefully I'll have more to say as I get to know these teams(and don't have to type 16 of em a week!). I usually do a Game of the Week!!! but I am forgoing that this time for lack of knowledge of most of these teams...I hope you guys enjoy this as much as AAA did, but for now goodnight!
prediction: Team Perkis gets the win, 44-30
(So Zeta don't ask
)London Monarchs (0-0) at. Lyon Dynasty (0-0)
Before I get started on any talk of football, my regards go out to Mike Rogers...In the words of Mavooo, get well soon brutha!
