So let's talk about the new punter VAs...

Swagger - .5% to confidence
Soccer Star - .3% to punting
Clutch - 5% chance to get "some bonuses" to "various attributes" late in the game on 3rd/4th down
Heart of a Champion - 2 points of confidence in the playoffs
Motivational Speaker - 5% increase to morale while on bench
Overtime Killer - 1% bonus to all attributes in overtime
Leg of Steel - +5% chance to increase punting power by 25% when punting from inside your own 20.
Nail in the Coffin - +3% bonus to the chance of successfully kicking a coffin corner punt.

Personally, I think I am going to go with nail in the coffin, leg of steel and then swagger

Soccer Star has been nerfed to the point that it only gives my punter 3.86 points (with 15 in SS), so it is kinda pointless when I can get better things.

My experience with 10 in Clutch is that any benefits have been random and really hard to assess.

Leg of Steel - looks interesting to maybe put 10 in it to give a 50/50 of getting the boost. Very few of my punts are from that far back though, so I don't think it would be worthwhile to put 15 in it.

Nail in Coffin - would putting 15 in it be overkill? What's an ideal amount for a mature punter to have in this VA? 10 gives you a 30% bonus, 15 would give you a 45% bonus.

Attributes - Vision and Confidence both provide a fair return of 0.5% per point

I went Clutch. I don't care if it doesn't say exactly what it does, punters punt on 4th downs every time and if any positions need to be "clutch" it's the kicker and punter. It sucks that it's totally unexplained but whatever. Otherwise I might try Streaky once I get 15 VPs. Nail in Coffin really doesn't look very good... 30% bonus to succeed at a coffin corner isn't very big for 15 VPs, how many coffin corners is it really going to make succeed that would otherwise be touchbacks per season? Two? If it made the punter ATTEMPT more coffin corners then I'd take it but the description doesn't seem to say that's the case.

Also, Motivational Speaker might be ideal on a punter over any other position, except maybe backups who don't play much.

edit: oh hey it's 45% for 15 Nail in Coffin. Still, I have quite a bit of doubt about just how much more helpful that is.

I really don't like that soccer star got the nerf it did...

It's not like you can exploit things with high kicking/punting like you can with speed/agility...

It's kinda dumb and annoying if you ask me

I pumped 10 in Nail in Coffin and 3 in Clutch.

my Punter is just 35 after boosting so he doesn't have many VA points. I was thinking Swagger and Nail in the Coffin. The nice thing about Punters and Nail in the Coffin is there is no opposition roll to worry about. All you have to do is look at the number of times you attempted an onside and the number of times you failed/succeeded.

If you only attempted 9 CC's last season and you made 5 of them, it's probably not worth putting 15 into.. but it might be worth putting some points into.

I have 37 VAs I think...

I get frustrated when kicks attempt the corner and go 50+ yards and go into the end zone, and when I am backed up they only go 38,40 yards.

I wonder if this has something to do with Confidence? I've had the same problem in the past, but I don't tend to do a lot of punting from that deep, so I really don't have a big enough sample of recent punts to examine.

I thought about that. He does want to work on confidence. (He's only at 70.23 (+2.11 for swagger))

I wanted to correct myself and say "confidence + Calm Nerves" but I see you have 9 there. But that begs the question, how high does Confidence and/or Calm Nerves have to be to be making those plays regularly? In my case morale good be hurting performance since my team has been around 0.500 past seasons, but you look like you're o a better team. My Confidence is marginally higher than yours, but CN is 8.

I think Swagger is the best as its a major attribute that gives us .5%
NITC looks good as well as it'll stack with the confidence boost and a good punter goes for coffins 1/2 the time.
