I know some teams are still adding players, waiting on day 1 FAs, etc., but out of boredom, I thought I'd do some basic research. The numbers in parenthesis are the teams' overall ratings.

This is NOT a prediction of finishing order Think of it as a "get to know your USA BBB#9 teams. Like Letterman's "know your cuts of meat" game.

And sorry to the West teams I did not do more - if I have the time before rollover to S9, I'll give it a go.

EAST

<>Salem Cyber Hawks (51) - Only one person to blame if the Cyber Hawks lose - Jmsnes. One agent owns the team and all the players on it. The owner of the highest overall rated team in the league has solved the problem of recruiting in one fell blow. Or 49, if you're counting. Also one of the richest teams in BBB, with nearly $43 million showing. 10-6 last season in a USA BBB league, led by HB Alexander Hughes (3,030 total yds, 54 TDs).

<>New York Grizzlies (48) - Looks to be a solid team, and though they could use a hair more depth on the offensive line, the defensive depth looks really solid for a BBB team. Passed more than rushed last season, but that may have been due to the competition. This team has a 2 headed QB, but Grizzly Power Pusher (251 Rush, 1,719.5yds; 21 Rec, 133.5yds; 26 TD) looks like the man in the backfield. CB Killer Return (32 Tkl, 1 Int, 63 KR, 1,700.5yd, 47 PR, 1,052.5yd) also looks to be a solid special teams threat. This team went 5-11 in BBB last season.

<>Louisiana Pelimonkeenecks (45) - A big part of their overall rating may come from CPU players. Levels range from 8 to 26, with the 26 being QB Herb Tyler (149/415, 2,308yds, 29 TD, 6 Int), who's agent is the owner of one of SEA Pro's top franchises. This team went 9-7 in a BBB league last season.

<>Vatican City Paranoid Agnostic (45) - Level-wise, VC looks solid across the board, ranging from 17-26, with most the average seeming to be around 23-24. The defense looks like it has especially strong depth. These guys were a pass-first team, too, last season, 3rd most after Indy and Miami. HB Christian Okoye' racked up some yards (245 Rush, 1,660.5yds; 7 Rec, 40.5yds; 19 TD), but with almost twice as many pass attempts as rush attempts, the VC two-headed QB seemed to have the most fun. Favorite target: WR Speedy McQueens (81 Rec, 1,705.5yds, 31 TD). 7-9 in BBB last season.

<>Chicago Grizzlies (45) - Chicago wins the depth prize in the Eastern Conference without a doubt. Most players on the team are between levels 17 and 24, with seemingly a majority closer to the latter. The Grizzlies didn't see a whole lot of success last season, so it's hard to judge what they'll do in S9 - though I think it's a safe bet their record will improve. HB Erin Go Braugh (208 Rush, 842yds; 35 Rec, 354.5yds; 13 TD) led the team in rushing last season. CBs Mike Graham. (52 Tkl, 4 Int, 44 PD) and Alexei Ramirez (26 Tkl, 3 Int, 58 PD) anchor a solid looking pass defense. This team went 3-13 in BBB last season.

<>Dogs of War (45) - The Dogs probably have the 2nd best depth in the conference after the Grizzlies, and a lack of improvement over last season's record would be a surprise. They feature a two headed QB and a solid roster of WRs. They expect big things out of HB Adrian Johnson (91 Rush, 432.5yds; 24 Rec, 266.5yds; 7 TD), who ran well last season despite the team being overmatched in most games. On defense, the Dogs are led by FA CB aquisition Brandon Jammer and FS Jacoby Merriweather (152 Tkl, 23 PD). The DoW went 2-14 in BBB last season.

<>Indianapolis X-Men (42) - Typically thin BBB roster with levels ranging from 11-32, though the average looks to be about right in the middle. Racked up the most yards passing of any team in the league last season, with 6,590 on the season. Admittedly we were all in different leagues, but I wouldn't expect the leopard to change his spots too drastically so soon. WR Niklas Schröder seems to have been the beneficiary of most pass attempts (96 Rec, 2,197.5yds, 28 TD). This team went 8-8 in a BBB league last season.

<>Kansas City Blackshirts (42) - Maybe not a one man team, but it seems like owner Husker318 tried. If you play against this team, don't be surprised if you tackle or are tackled by a guy named Blackshirt on almost every play. 4th in returning passing yds, (perhaps the OC is more of a Callahan man than Osborne?) the Blackshirts featured WR Pooky Wilson, who absolutely dominated (165 Rec, 2,547.5yds, 28 TD, 8 KR, 213yd, 12 PR, 240yd). This team also has what looks like a shutdown corner in Jesse (HALO) Gosserand (77 Tkl, 4 Int, 125 KR, 3,330yd, 8 PR, 214.5yd, 3 TD ), and LB Shawne LIGHTS OUT Merriman racked up a ton of tackles last season (176). This is a team with some very good players, but may suffer from alot of young players on the 2nd line. 7-9 in a USA BBB last season.

<>New York Empire (42) - Not alot of depth, which is typical in this league, so maybe it won't hurt the Empire too bad. Having only five OL seems like it could be a problem, though. The defense has decent depth for the league, and most of the team is close to the Lv 24 league cap. New addition HB Mike NU Rozier did pretty well in the casual league BBBs (187 Rush, 1,360yds; 7 Rec, 63yds; 24 TD). The Empire could really benefit from that kind of performance in S9. This team went 4-12 in BBB last season.

<>Long Island Iced Tea (42) - Average depth, but a few players look like contracts might expire soon, so things look up in the air. Until extensions are signed, it's hard to get a read on this team. Also making it difficult is that they were very overmatched last season. 1-15 in BBB last season. Defense is led by FS Dan Linszner (100 Tkl, 2 Int). This team went 1-15 in BBB last season.

<>Miami Bolts (39) - A team with some high level players, but plenty of CPU holes in the roster as well. If they can fill in some human depth, this team could contend. Heck, they might contend anyway. High leveled HB Chase Cooley broke the 2,000 yard mark last season, averaging nearly 10 yards per rush. They hit the pass even harder, with QB Jason McWhorter (381/728, 5,264yds, 60 TD, 7 Int) driving the offense. This team went 7-9 in a BBB last season.

<>New Orleans Magic (39) - The Magic have decent depth for BBB, but their average player level seems to be a little lower than the league average. They didn't have a lot of success on offense last season, but they should do a little better in more equal competition. Top threats include TE Phil NightTrain (50 Rec, 667.5yds, 4 TD) and WR Andrew Herbert (73 Rec, 1,052.5yds, 10 TD, 24 KR, 528yd). This team went 4-12 in BBB last season.

<>Neptune Knights (36) - Decent levels on the starters, but not a lot of depth. Most backups are CPUs, so this team will probably suffer a bit once the starters start to lose gas, which is easy to happen at this level. Though to be fair, these agents may not care, as most of them have connections to a couple of high profile pro teams. Not many fireworks from the passing game, but WR M R. Catch still gets good stats, and CB Sicle "The Rocket" Ismail has racked up a ton of return yards. This team went 5-11 in BBB last season.

<>Mtown Maniax (36) - This team suffers from a slight lack of depth as well as being a few levels behind. Some standouts include LB BadAss MotherFer (104 tkl), FS Tad 'Bad* Lad (174 tkl) and OT Fat Blunt (161 pancakes) - But without some additional depth, the Maniax will probably not make it far into games before losing ground.

<>Baton Rouge Bulls (30) - Dominated by Vatican City and Salem last season, this team is led by veteran HB Razor Cutter (406 Rush, 4,493yds; 41 Rec, 554.5yds; 74 TD), who was a one man wrecking crew. Cutter probably won't have as much success against defenses who will (thanks to boosting) average around level 27 next season, but considering this team only has 9 players on it's roster, and no human WRs or QBs, expect one thing, and one thing only. If you can stop it, you'll win. If you can't, Cutter gets another game of glory. Baton Rouge went 5-11 in BBB last season.

<>Cleveland PlayMakers Energy (30) - Four human players on the team pretty much sums it up for Cleveland. After Bort's most recent announcement, I wonder if they'll get to keep Lv 43 HB Icky Shuffle (204 Rush, 1,570yds; 46 Rec, 980.5yds; 39 TD). My guess would be yes, since they've got little else on the team, but we'll have to wait and see. If so, I imagine he'll put up big numbers again, though a few teams will have the depth to slow him down. And if so, expect Cleveland to be a one man team. And if he's not allowed to stay... well, it won't be too pretty in Cleveland this spring. This team went 3-13 in BBB last season.

Thanks AC...that was a great read...Thanks for taking the time to relay this pre-liminary overview.

As you said there may be some roster moves at the start of the season...but it looks like it is going to be a good season with competition throughout.

Great job, AC. There are a number of teams who are at the top who could go all the way this season. Your assessment East is great. You're right to assume Salem is the the team to beat.

Thanks guys - with taxes due and work, it looks like I'm not going to get around to doing the West.

I'm just pretty happy to be in a fairly balanced league. Looking forward to a fun season.

We got just under 50 million total. I didn't ever want to own all the players on my team, I just hate the recruiting... sending out 50 contract offers getting -0- interest even on a good team that made the playoffs several times. After several seasons of losing top notch talent I finally couldn't get any CBs or WRs or LBs a few seasons ago and I had lost all but 2 LBs and all but 2 wrs.. thats when I cut everyone on the team retired all my own players and built a team of my own guys. I don't boost them so that might make my playoff run (assuming I make it) difficult. They are slow built though and I think they are fairly well built. The other slow build teams I have played of similar level I have destroyed.

I don't think anyone blames you, jmsne - most owners have been there.

Looking forward to the games, and GL

I must have sent out 40 offers to linemen this offseason, and only one guy signed. Lucky for that because I only have 5 linemen! So everyone knows how you feel. By the way cowboy that rundown is awesome. After reading it, I may not have to do any scouting for games.

I like the analysis a lot. The Grizzlies (my team) should improve drastically this season ;-)
