Boys Passing attack comes alive in 4th Straight Victory

After leading the league in passing through the first 7 games, the Back Yard Boys have struggled. Averaging over 250 yards/game during the first 5 games, the boys passing totals have dropped to under 150 during the last 5. This drought ended today in a 19-14 victory against the South Bend Red Raiders. Nate Montana had the best game of his career going 24/29 for nearly 200 yards and 2 touchdowns. The Goat also had a career day catching 11 passes for 124 yards and both of the 2 touchdowns scored by a rejuvenated Boys offense. The return of the air attack came just in the nick of time. In a crucial game against a very good opponent, the boys were struggling with their patented smash mouth rushing attack averaging only 2.8 yards per carry.

“Our running attack didn’t have its best day today and I am glad that we were able to come through with a better performance in the air. We have been flat lately and it feels good to be back on track. This is just further evidence of the kind of game we play. It is a team game and one group relies on all the others to pull through and win. I hope we continue to improve with our passing because we all know Jamall and the boys will be back next week ready to dominate.” Nate Montana QB

The boys continue to pile on wins in hopes of securing a Playoff spot. They are currently tied with 3 other teams for 3rd place in the conference with only 4 games to go.

“We are in this for the long haul. We have been winning but so have the rest of the teams in this race. We have a tough group of guys and they have shown their character in the last two games. The coaches are doing their job and they have the team ready to play on gameday. I feel confident we can win out and hopefully secure a home playoff game or even 2. The fans have been great to us and we hope to have them on our side when its “do or die”.” MTimpson-Owner

The boys will finish the season playing 3 out of their next 4 games on the road. If they win out their playoff position is secured but if they lose it is possible they will be done when the regular season ends.

In other news there has been a major restructuring of the Boys’ front office with 2 new members being added to the coaching ranks and a 3rd on its way. CawleyJT will be taking over conditioning and training and Your Dad will be taking over the duties of Assistant to the Head Coach. No names have been mentioned about who will fill the Special Teams Coaching vacancy but the GM is currently interviewing for the spot.

Player Spotlight:

Imagine if you will a 6’4” 333 lb garbage disposal. That would be the closest description I could give of Charter Buss. At first sight he looks like someone who couldn’t move if the house was on fire and he was on the top floor sitting in bed with a gallon of ice-cream. But not only can CB put away food like the nighttime stocking crew at Wal-Mart, he has a spin move that is rumored to create small vortexes in the fabric of Space-Time. When I asked him about his weight, he said (and I quote) “It’s not about being overweight or horizontally challenged, It’s about being fat.” If you are looking for an autograph from the big fella you can catch him Mondays through Thursdays at JB’s all you can eat shrimp. Order him a large serving of cheese fries (heavy on the cheese) and he may even sit at your table.

(I will be posting a players spotlight section on every article from this point out. If you have any interesting tidbits about your player please PM me and I will put you in)
