Last week, I went 7-1, bringing my record thus far to 28-12. I hope to have another decent showing this week in spite of some hard to pick matchups!
Atlanta Dirtybirds (10-1) vs. Gotham City Punishers (3-8)
With a win, Atlanta can become the first team in BBB #6 to clinch a playoff spot. Gotham City will need it's defense to step up bigtime. Their 24th ranked rush defense will be put to the test against Atlanta's 9th ranked rushing game. The Dirtybirds will look to control the clock and score behind their 7th ranked passing offense and 6th ranked scoring offense, which is averaging 28.5 points per game.
Prediction: Atlanta 30, Gotham City 7
Seattle Fish n Chips (9-2) vs. Louisiana Ragin Cajuns (8-3)
This is a huge game involving two teams fighting for playoff position. Seattle has won 3 in a row, while Louisiana has lost 2 of their last 3 games. Look for the Fish n Chips to use their 2nd ranked pass offense to impose their will on Louisiana's 28th ranked pass defense. The Ragin Cajuns will need to find a way to score on a Seattle defense that is only giving up 8 points per game.
Prediction: Seattle 28, Louisiana 13
Portland Aftershocks (9-2) vs. Sacramento SS Psychos (9-2)
Just like the previous matchup, here is another game that could prove vital to playoff positioning. We have a battle of two teams whose identity revolves around the running game. Portland features the leagues 2nd ranked rush offense and 4th ranked rush defense. Sacramento has the 3rd ranked rush offense and 5th ranked rush defense in the league. The team that wins this matchup should end up on top.
Prediction: Portland 21, Sacramento 17
Coruscant Death Stars (7-4) vs. Montana Carnage (5-6)
Montana enters this match on a two game losing streak, while Coruscant has won 2 in a row. The Carnage will need to come to life against the Death Stars' defense, which is allowing a strong 2.9 yards per play. Meanwhile, Coruscant's 10th ranked scoring offense will need to punch it in against a Carnage defense that is allowing close to 17 points per game.
Prediction: Coruscant 21, Montana 16
Minnesota Lumberjacks (5-6) vs. San Francisco Hawks (3-8)
Minnesota enters this game having gone 5-1 in their last 6 games, while San Francisco has lost 3 of their last 4. The Hawks offense will need to come to life against a Lumberjacks defense which has allowed 1 touchdown in its last 3 games, while Minnesota will need to get past San Francisco's 7th ranked pass defense to keep their postseason hopes alive and well.
Prediction: Minnesota 27, San Francisco 3
Riverside Revolution (4-7) vs. Fort Worth Red Raiders (5-6)
Riverside is currently in free fall, having lost 7 of their last 8 games, while Fort Worth has gone 2-1 in their last 3 games. Fort Worth will look for it's 10th ranked pass offense to pull through against Riverside's 30th ranked pass defense. Riverside will need to score early and often against Fort Worth's scoring defense, which gives up 17 points per game, in order to keep the game competitive.
Prediction: Fort Worth 17, Riverside 7
Mid-Pac Warriors (2-9) vs. Dallas Longhorns (8-3)
Mid-Pac is another team in free fall, as they are 1-8 in their last 9 games. They take on a Dallas team which has won 4 of its last 5, including a blowout of the Revolution last week. The Longhorns look to capitalize against the stastically worst defense in the league (32nd in all major categories), while the Warriors must find a way to score against a team that has given up more than 15 points only twice all season.
Prediction: Dallas 56, Mid-Pac 0
Houston Wave (0-11) vs. St. Paul Shockers (1-10)
The two bottom teams in the conference face off for non-supremacy! Combined, these two teams have a 20 game losing streak entering today. These teams are nearly identical statistically, from record, to offense, to defense, to special teams. Houston has the slight edge on defense, and their offense will need to rise to the occasion and take advantage in order to record their first win.
Prediction: Houston 14, St. Paul 13
