What do you guys think? I know the popular cookiecutter is to go speed/agility/vision. I can't stand listening to people complain about powerbacks breaking tackles so much when this is all they do and they totally neglect TACKLING!!!

But what do you think about strength? Important? Why? I know underdogs has pimped it and I'd like to hear his reasoning ...

for SS, knock balls lose, force fumbles, break blocks on runs plays

Great for pass defense . . . strength=more PDs. I'd say strength might actually be more important in coverage than in run support (tackling>strength for run support)

helps knock the ball lose and it might help with regular PD for fighting with the WR for position

I mean, it's not that simple, but evidence points to strength being part of the DB/WR catch/deflect interaction.

this is highly controversial. It is rumored to help PDs, but by a sufficient amount? Who knows.

I think Strength is very important, especially to a SS. You know that Power Backs thesedays are going to run through your linebackers on occasion so your Safety needs to be equipped to make the tackle once he does get through, high tackling is a must but strength is also essential.

Just don't be weak as hell and you'll be fine. You can be decent with strength at the first cap. Should do the job a lot of the time.
