A team in the AA#4 league was given a new outlook on life today as the former Oakland Earthquakes folded ownership after an 0-10 start to be replaced by the Carolina Bar Stars. The Bar Stars are to rise from the ashes of the Earthquakes under the mangement of new owner Bigmo6967 and new GM MeatBomb.
When asked for the short and long term plans for the new franchise, team owner Bigmo said "We know that the team was in total disarray when I acquired it, so my short term goals are very modest. All I desire right now is to fill out the roster and ensure that people are playing in their proper positions. We are realistic and know that the 0-10 start is almost certain to be repeated in the second half of the season. Our goal right now is not to win but just to start getting the right people in place and put the team together on the right track." Bigmo even went as far as to grant immediate release to any player under current contract for the Earthquakes who desired it. "We know this team is in rebuilding mode."
New GM Meat stated. "This season has really been unfair so far for the players stuck on the roster who have had to endure embarrasing defeats and out of position play. We figured the first act of responsible management would be to grant those players the option to immediately pursue situations where they could compete instead of having to endure what promises to be a painful rebuilding process."
Bigmo went on to say: "The remainder of this season is devoted to getting players experience and getting the roster stabilized. We understand that we are going to lose some good players here to begin with and that we are not going to be competitive until at least next season. We want to build this thing right and avoid having to stare at lopsided scoreboards after this season ends."
The Bar Stars will debut their new era beggining May 17th in their USA AA#4 Western conference match-up against the 1-9 Philidelphia Birds. Players interested in getting in on the ground floor of the Bar Star rebuild are encouraged to contact owner Bigmo6967.
