looks like a 4-3 cover 1 with zones....but what the SS is strange

If I had to guess, it's man flats in the pre-designed play. And the pro set is just changing the assignments so the SS covers flats instead of linebacker.

Could be completely wrong but *shrug* what it looks like it could be to me.

That's not it because the SS is covering the flat instead of the ROLB.

I thought it was LB Contain when I looked at it. /shrug.

Might work well vs. Cobra Kai though. also /shrug.

not a bad play to stop the outside run.

Not trying to hijack the thread, but the OP has some answers, and I was wondering about this play I just saw while scouting.

Can't figure out what it is. I know it looks like a 4-3, but the one CB is blitzing, the other is in man, the FS is in man and the SS is zone. If it were Cover 1, I would think the FS would be in zone.. Is the FS picking up the WR automatically because the CB is blitzing? Very tricky AI stuff here for my feeble mind.

The SS isn't in a zone, the SS is double covering WR2.

Its a 4-3 Cover 0, Balance Focus, Center Shift, Medium Coverage distance, LOLB, ROLB, and CB2 blitz.

So the FS and SS are doubling WR2, why is the SS not lined up in man coverage? Is it because the CB2 and FS are already there?

Because the SS never lines up directly over the WR if he is going to double team, just like LB's won't.
