Forum > Goal Line Blitz > Tactics Discussion > Why does this happen in Shotgun 5 WR?

Every time the offense runs Shotgun 5 WR my defense goes into this formation and does this:
http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=400337&pbp_id=8865105
http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=400337&pbp_id=8867297

Now I have in my defensive AI the very first input at the top my defense for any formation between 5 and 6 receivers and, anywhere on the field, any down, any time left, any score, etc. Nowhere else in my AI do I have an input set for more than 4 WR's, so this is the only thing that should be run with 5 WR's right?

Now in this top input for 5 to 6 WR's I have it set for 100% an output with a 3-1-7 Cover 2 Man to Man Long coverage Pass play focus. I have center shift and 0 blitzers with 0% blitz chance at all positions.

So why the hell does the AI run this 4-1-6 zone coverage as seen above and let my CB's get smoked by the WR's when they just stop covering them about 5 yards back?

Can anyone help me understand why this happens. I have definitely gone over my tactics and nowhere does it call out a tactic for more than 5 WR's except in this one. And this is the defense that shows up every time the other team runs a Shotgun 5 WR formation. Also, since I have my AI setup at the very top doesn't that trump any other situation? I thought the location of the input higher on the list takes precedent if there were more than once instance of a situation?

Since there are no formations with 6 WR's, try it with just "5 and 5".
Don't forget to test it!

In fact, try testing it first and that will give you what formation the AI is using.

I had same thing happen. Not sure if it's a bug or what. 99% of the time it's fine, but occasionally it ignores my setting and comes out in that.

It has to be a problem with your AI.

I can look at it if you want...you should just be able to put in the exact situation and see what happens.

Also, do you have auto-adjust turned on?

try changing your uniforms so they are not real gay looking, then do this...

Yes, although anything in quarter-specific AI that matches conditions overrides everything in the general AI.

This is always good advice. The AI tester is a gamesaver.

Just don't go orange and blue that would be the gayest colors of all!

Yes, because that way you make sure to cover all those 4 WR sets?

This has happened to me as well. And I test everything I enter.
