San Jose returns to winning ways over struggling Fresno Fire
Fresno, CA (AP)… Bolstered by a strong second quarter, the San Jose Chupacabra grinded out a 22-13 victory over their cross-state rivals, the Fresno Fire yesterday afternoon. The win marks the Chupacabra’s first win in four games.
“The monkey definitely feels like it’s off our backs. Hopefully, we can string a few more wins together and squeeze into the postseason,” said quarterback Remo Rankin.
The offenses of San Jose and Fresno fought to a virtual stalemate, racking up similar offensive numbers. However, a costly interception thrown in the red zone and goal line stand by the San Jose defence made the difference, making a potential 14 points for the Fire into a mere 3.
“We came to play, baby. Wasn’t no way that we were walkin’ outta here without that W,” said linebacker Demetrius McQueen, “I told you…it starts here. It’s gonna keep goin’ in Boston too.”
When asked for a predication, McQueen waxed poetic in the style of Muhammad Ali, “Our defence is mean, you ain’t scorin’ more than fourteen.”
