Just rolled a +2 Tackling, +1 Quick Cut and a +3 Strength, +1 First Step. Which of these seems better for a MLB? He already has a good Closing Speed AEQ built up.

depend what you want to do... get around blockers then Quick but seriously first step looks better and it have 1 more strength. First step acceleration and combined with closing speed. not a bad combo. You dont need cut to chase people

FS is ok. QC is better if you're in coverage.

Hm. I tend to have him playing Man to cover the HB or help the LOLB with the TE on pass plays, for the most part..

Quick Cut is better

In 4-3 Man defense with cover 1 or cover 2, the MLB is in man coverage on the HB. If you face teams that pass the ball a lot to their HB, you'd want quick cut to help cover him. And there's a fair share of HBs with a ton of receiving yards these days.

First step is more of a blitzing SA, which is for the OLBs who are more likely to blitz - the ROLB in a cover 2, or the LOLB in a cover 1. The HB is very dangerous when left uncovered, which is why a MLB shouldn't blitz in passing downs.

That does make sense. He doesn't usually blitz, unless I'm staring down a 5 Wide set while the D is in the Quarter. I actually think the other Conference in the League he plays in does more throwing to the HB than ours, but I still hesitate to leave a guy open like that. Doesn't hurt that the QC piece is like 40k less than the other piece, either.
