do any of the formulas use it in their equation?

yeah, it actually can move up the receiving bar and/or the carrying bar, I've seen it do both, although it has more of an effect on the receiving bar.

Apparently in the receiving bar when the calculations are done (if this is correct) you multiply your receivers base jumping attribute by 0.15.

The current formula being banded around (which appears to be quite accurate) is

0.397 x Catching + 0.175 x Speed + 0.15 x Jumping + 0.14 x Agility + 0.137 x Vision

Remember, these are raw attributes, so equipment doesn't count in the scouting bars.

So jumping seems to be the third most important attribute in this game for receiving.

Thing is, you have to look at this and think, if the receiving bar is very high but your overall is lower, does this make him a better "receiver" rather than a better overall player?

If these formulas do run true I did a little experiment. Now if a high level receiver spends his SP correctly he should be able to get his receiver to the following caps easily:

Speed - 68
Agility - 68
Catching - 68
Jumping - 61
Vision - 61

If you run the math on the player above, he will have a receiving score of 65.923

Now, according to the sums, the least important stat is vision. So let's say you only take vision to 49 and use the SP saved to get catching to 74...

Receiver score - 66.661

Would this actually make him a better receiver though? Who knows.

Since these formulas and the bars do not take into account EQ or VPs, it is really hard to know how they correlate, if at all, to a good build.

Why would it be hard to know? Equipment doesn't make a good build, your attributes do.

I bet at least 90% of the well built WRs in GLB have their equipment in speed and most will have 10+ VPs in Track Star.

and it doesnt help that the bars are rounded to the nearest 3, quite inaccurate imo

This is not true. Only for team scouting if I'm correct.

Of course there is a correlation, considering most of the attributes that go in to the scouting bar are attributes that we know improve receivers. It isn't a perfect correlation but there is a relationship.

and carrying does nothing... sort of surprising on that one...

Carrying does affect overall, catching and carrying bar...but very litte.

Also, jumping affect catching and overall bar...though very little fwiw.
