I know this has been answered many times, but ive searched the forum and I can't find the one specific thread that deals with this SA...

So can someone give me a very quick synopsis of Head Fake and whether or not is good for running routes without the ball? Or is it just effective when you have the ball?

Edit: And would Putting alot into head fake be more effective than QC? My thinking is this = Off the snap, head fake might cause the defender to go the wrong way. QC would only be effective well into the route...

Head fake theoretically has a chance to activate when route running AND when carrying the ball. I say theoretically because we can't prove how effective it is unless someone wants to dump 10 levels into it all at the same time to see the difference it makes. Is the small pause we sometimes see do to the defender getting beat, the WR out running him or did HF trigger? We don't know, it isn't obvious like a [missed tackle] so we cannot speculate about its effectiveness.

If you are running deep straight routes or diagonals with slow cuts, then QC isn't all that helpful, I notice no change on those plays. If you run lots of shorter routes where you have to cut, it is nothing short of amazing. If you have a speedster and he isn't going to run short routes, I'd gamble on the HF and hope it works, if not QC all the way.

I had HF AEQ for a while and I play the slot. I had it to about 8. TBH, I hardly saw an improvement or it going off a lot, if ever. Tried it on creative route run and regular, tried different things. nothing seemed to really benefit.

I eventually sold it and went to First Step. I believe his game has significantly improved since the switch.
