Hoping someone can help me out with how the players align. Is it the RILB and LILB that play in the 4-2? or is it the MLB and someone else? Does the SS play up in an OLB position as he would in a real 4-2? If I show a 1 shell will the 3rd corner play Opposite the SS in the OLB position?

I guess a few plays with an idea on what settings you used to get the alignment that way would be great.

Thanks in advance

Its the MLB and the LOLB i believe...Ima check for sure...i dont use 4-2- alot

(it is for sure LOLB and MLB)

Here is a base 4-2-5 cover 2 against a 2 wr set

cept the MLB is on a blitz

If you call a cover 1 I think the SS will move up and play man-2- man on the TE

I think the the 3rd corner will double up on a WR in man 2 man if you show cover 1 (against 2 WR)

I don't use a ton of 4-2, so i may be wrong...Until someone that knows more about the 4-2 comes along 8-)

I will see what i can dig up play wise for ya

http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=429402&pbp_id=3051214 - thats a cover 0, with shift strong i am pretty sure

I havent dug up a cover 1 yet, but if I have time i will

That's the first play from my team's last game where we used a 4-2 (We use it every time we face a 3 WR set)

The MLB still lines up right in the middle. The LOLB lines up on the TE (as he is in man coverage. I'm not sure where he would line up if he was in zone coverage). The MLB covers the HB in Man, the LOLB covers the TE. Even when it criss-crosses the LBs (TE goes to the middle, HB goes to the right), the LBs do fine in coverage.

I use a 4-3 Cover 2 with LBs and CBs in Man (against 2 WRs), or a 4-2 Cover 2 with LBs and CBs in Man (against 3 WRs) .... about 80% of the time. It works, so I don't really have to change anything about it.

My educated guess is the same as the first guy who replied - that in a Cover 1, the SS would cover the TE, most likely with the LOLB still covering him, too.
