Are they a waste of time?
Do most teams simply look for a Blocking TE or a Receiving TE?
Is the offensive AI sophisticated enough at this point to negate any benefits of a TE who is average at both receiving and blocking?
Slow Building my first TE and had really hoped to make an all-purpose guy, but then started to think he would be completely useless to the majority of teams...

The problem (and potential opportunity) is that the defense doesn't YET have the ability to direct strategy based upon which players are on the field.

The question, then, is do you think the game will soon change in that regard?

Personally, I think most owners/DC's would definitely take the time to set the one-on-one matchup, and I can't see how it would be so difficult to implement that into the sim. I'm definitely not a programmer though, so my speculation is purely BS. Wouldn't it be great though, if you could throw in a CB to cover those super-fast TE's and then throw your LB in to take on the Blocking TE...
Right now it's a major advantage to the offense.

I would say my balanced TE has been a waste of time.

Then again, TEs are supposed to be balanced! They are a WR/OL combo.

The game has created a dichotomy...

At this point... they are a waste of time. Until the defense can select packages based on players on the field, balance TE's will never be worth a damn.
