just wondering what tree would be better for a SS i was thinking hard hitter because he is mainly the run stopper difference. but not sure.

It depends on the build of the safety and how the team uses the safety. If you build your player in a way that won't support the SAs you build up you are wasting your points. The build should support the SAs, the SAs should support the build, and the build should support the team. Building up the SA tree too soon is a waste, and that includes customer equipment. You can do the tree upgrade at any point in your career after level 8 so there is no reason to hurry up to do it.

i think the coverage one is better.
all 5 of those are very useful (which is rare for an SA tree), while the hard hitter tree has 2 mildly useful SAs and and 3 useless ones.
i think it's so overwhelming that the build or the scheme don't matter.

I agree with this, but I have preferences for hard hitting safeties.
Also, my kart is faster than yours

Up until this point, HH tree has been pretty useless. May change with fumble rates being increased, wouldn't bet my kid's college fund just yet, though.

really? you can buy custom EQ and than go back and pay the flex to add more to it? I always assumed that you'd need to sell the piece and buy a new one, taking the flex hit. Good heads up, thanks.

Coverage tree (for SS not FS). Super Vision . . .
Also only the first two of the HH abilities are worth putting points into, and if you don't miss tackles even they're not too useful.
Possibly with Bort making Big/Monster Hit more effective the HH tree will be worthwhile, but right now there's no contest.
