So higher stamina helps a player get more plays if the coordinators don't know how to adjust the settings. I don't know that stamina actually affects how well the players play.
Energy level definitely affects how well players play. I'm not sure how you can say you don't know that.
In this case, the depth chart was set up so each WR ended up with the same energy after each game, so that wasn't a factor. And he had the second most receptions on the team in the regular season and the playoffs, behind only our star speedster who is 3 levels higher, despite being the lowest level WR on the team. Plus his fame is much higher than 2 who are higher level. In the Championship game he had 9 catches for 151 yards all versus CBs 3 levels higher. So these kinds of things indicate to me that performance also reflects the benefits of stamina. The number of plays is just a very obvious indicator that directly correlates with energy and helps to show how a few points in stamina can make a big difference, being able to play 50% more snaps and end up with the same energy. If you flip that around, and the OC set up the depth chart so the number of plays equaled out, then his energy level would be substantially higher by the end of the game. This is true relative to CBs as well.
all of this is just to say.... in my experience it is worth continuing to put a few points into stamina as you level up, at least to the soft cap.
