Would a corner with very high vision and jumping, moderate speed and agility be viable, or is 85 speed the only realistic "good" option?

85 isnt that high. I have 85-95 speed and im not that fast I think.
to rephrase your title.
Agility is the end-all be-all skill. imo

Right, I've heard in several places that 85 is the "minimum" speed needed for a CB. I was just curious if high enough vision to anticipate the play, and good jumping could make up for say... 65/70 speed.
Maybe with a zone defense, speed wouldn't be so important?
I just have this idea of a high vision, high jumping CB with a good amount of strength to go with his speed and agility.

then try it, what's stopping you? Don't be afraid to go away from all the cookiee cutter builds here

Speed is important but it needs agility to compliment it. One of the things agility does is provide acceleration. You could have 100 speed but with only 35 agility you would take a long time to reach your top speed. Agility is also important because you need to turn with the receiver you are covering - when they turn you need to turn, so you also need some vision to realize you need to turn as quickly as possible. But even if you can keep up you need to jump occassionally to swat at the ball.
It will take you a few seasons to have a truly good CB. You need to look to the future to determine what to work on now. Consider what you opponents, wide recievers, will look like like in a few seasons. There are different approaches you can take with you CB, some good, some bad. Your idea is not a bad one. Try it. I wouldn't want all of my CBs looking the same because they each should provide benefits is different scenarios.

Agility is the most important. I GM'd for this team last season, and the DE in this play had ok speed (can't give specifics), but very, very high agility. He moves like a freaking HB:

My DE, Mr. Pass Rush on the other side was all speed at the time, and moves slower.

speed is over rated, agility and vision are more important for a cb

I know a player who a 42 with 75 speed, and he does very well. I think he's got 5 in Shutdown corner to help a bit, and a little more agility than speed.
We've matched up against the same teams (some of which have 100+ speed corners), and he doesn't get burnt at all. By the time the WR is by him, the QB has already targeted someone else. There's a chance that if you can't get pressure to the QB, you run the risk of getting toasted on the out, but the way the game is simmed, most qb's don't just chuck it up and hope the Wr gets there.

In Season 7, I disagree that Agility > Speed for DE's. My DE has performed really well in a very tight conference for two consecutive seasons, with 90-100 agility (plus 5 on boosting days). Yet this season he was dire. I checked out some DE's who were doping well in our conference and it's all about speed. Maybe this changes for S8, but for now, my equipment is jumping ship to speed

That play is also a lvl 47 DE vs a lvl 37 C playing at RT. A good RT gets his hands on him and slows him down, like the LT did to your DE. Would make him appear to be slower.

Yeah, please tell this to my DC. My CB is the same way, has only 80 speed after all is said and done, 66 agility and 60 vision but now he's the #4 CB because all the others are the cookie cutter 85-90 speed. Very few times does a WR get by him and he doesn't get juked during a route. He'll be looking for a new home next season.
