Alexandria (AP)... Standout wide receiver Leon King agree to a contract termination today with the Alexandria Barbarians of the Africa A6 league.
“I’d like to thank the Barbarians for honouring my request for an early release. They were a good team and I believe they have a great future ahead of them”, said King in a morning press conference “I just don;t feel that its currently the right place for me.”
King abruptly left GLB two years ago for personal reasons and came back this last season, showing no signs of rust. In fact, as a starting wideout for the Barbarians, King set career highs in receptions (84) and yards (906), leading the team.
“What’s important to me is that I catch on with a team that shows a positive locker room and committed coaches and owners,” said King when asked about where he’d like to continue his career, “Whether its someone who is on top or someone who wants to build up, it doesn’t matter. If you’ve got a spot for me, I’m ready for it.”
Known for being an excellent route runner out of college, King started his career as a slot receiver and showed good results. The market would appear to be good for a receiver with starting experience and a good team-first attitude.
King’s agent, the eccentric Sean Bishop, said that he’s open to taking all offers for King so long as they included, “a 6 pack of Schlitz and a line of half decent blow.”
