Okay, so I'm curious what people think about the new defense creator. My take is that it concerns me since I see an offense creator coming soon. If that happens, I will officially quit as a DC since I don't have the time to deal with it.

Which brings me to another question, how many people are actually excited about DCing? I've gotten four requests in the past few days to DC for a team (without asking for the position) since it seems that DCs are too few. A lot of people seem to be stepping down because they are burnt out.

Its seems kinda nice to have so much control over things but the schedule kills me. Having to worry about tactics every other day no matter what can start to take its toll. No real break from it to deal with work and real life issues.

it was much more fun when all you had was basic AI for offense and defense. I say lets get play creator for offense and defense, but get rid of the ADV AI for Offense and Defense. Who here had fun with tecmo bowl and you only had 8 designated plays with the original game.

I'm looking forward to the play creator.

It really doesn't take as long as everyone makes out to DC. It does take several hours to set up the first AI, but minor tweaks afterwards takes 5-10 minutes tops.

Eh, not totally true. I get the idea of what you're saying, but if you count in scouting, it takes an extremely significant amount of time.

What is true is that there is a point of seriously diminishing returns, and I honestly have no idea where that point is as I spend way too much time on the game. What's going to happen is that we're going to end up with classes of DCs where only the most committed (and insane) spend hours and hours on each game, and others can learn to spend like an hour on each game with 90% of the effectiveness, and maybe others can spend like 20 minutes on each game with like 80% of the effectiveness. It basically will just depend on how serious your team is and how desperately you want to win.

The defensive play creator will really separate the real DC's and the wanna-be's. Also, anyone that believes that being a 'good' DC only take a few minutes, IMO, really don't have a clue.

Thats why you appoint scouts to lighten the work load. Everyones different. Some people feel the need to be the only person that has a say in their DAI/Game Plan and others like to lighten the load and allow input from scouts. Just depends on which play style you prefer. This game is all about having fun. If you're not having fun, switch things up until you are. Personally I found owning a team and DCing was to much for me. So I sold my team and now I DC for 2-3 teams and enjoy it much more.

I wouldn't go that far. Like I said before, everyone is different in how they plan. Personally, it doesn't take me that long to plan a game either. But thats because I split the scouting time with a couple other guys and have my AI set up pretty in depth to where I only have to tweak a few things or add an input or two for specific situations.

In the end, I'm still enjoying this game and looking very forward to the D-play creator. And for you guys that think the AI is to much, thats why Bort is coming out with the basic tactic leagues this season.

I'm curious to see how it all plays out. Endless possibilites, you could go Buddy Ryan and run the 4-6 defense or any other number of things.

He has a highly trained team of people in white coats doing the heavy lifting for him. He just pops into the room, makes a few sarcastic comments, makes a diagnosis and then claims his trophy.

4-6 always sounds good in theory because of how dominant it was with the 85 Bears, but I think anyone trying to run it as a base formation in GLB is asking for trouble. The main point of the 4-6 is to force a team to pass, then drive them crazy trying to stop the pressure.. Right now in the state of GLB, I think most teams would prefer not to be passed on, since the complaints I'm hearing are that passing is too easy.

Yeah, probably why we just won CPL with a pretty dominant defense

I personally think it's going to kill the game.

The issue I have with this game is that we can't make adjustment during the game or at half time, so essentially we put in an AI and hope for the best. It's sort of good that the plays are limited because things won't get too whacky. But with the play creator, I think there will be a lot of crazy formations and blitz that will be creating a lot of new bugs and exploits for the sim. Most games would be like a guess work and it will become like an lottery.

Until we can do real time play calling or make adjustments during games, it's best not to get too complicated with the plays. IMO.

The AIs almost killed the game, the playmaker is fixing bugs in the AI pretty much. All I will be using the playmaker for is to basically assign cover assignements.

I've played on one of DB's teams. He's an exceptional DC, imo.
