Good jobs by East #2 Seed Iowa Hogeyes and West #1 Seed Idaho Rex for advancing to the conference championships.
Now we're at the big game, the Season 7 League Championship. Before we go into the breakdown, let's see how the two teams got here.
WEST - DETROIT REVOLVERS
Detroit got out to a hot start in Season 7, rattling off 8 straight wins, including a 21-17 thriller in Week 5 vs the Sentinels. In Week 9 on the road at Idaho, they dropped a 22-20 GOTY candidate to Idaho, who defeated the Revolvers on a FG with under 15 seconds left, for Detroit's only loss this season. They went on another win streak after the loss, winning their last 7 games without ever really being challenged. Although they finished with 2 other teams at 15-1, they drew the #3 seed because their weather gauge had been their defense, and the tiebreaker rewards offense.
In the playoffs, they drew the #3 seed and dispatched #6 Colorado by getting up early and then behind 21 unanswered 4th quarter points. They then went to #2 Steel City and although only up 1 going into the 4th quarter, scored 14 4th quarter points to pull away. In the conference championship, Detroit went on the road again, pulling ahead 7-6 at the half. After Idaho kicked a FG to bring them 1 point back, 13-12, Detroit scored 2 TD's in the last 2 minutes to put the nail in the coffin.
EAST - SLEEPY HOLLOW HORSEMEN
Like their opponent Detroit who also finished 15-1, Sleepy Hollow started off hot, winning their first 7 games. In Week 8, Sleepy Hollow visited Louisiana State, who got up early, and Sleepy Hollow wasn't able to come back, their only blemish on the season. They then went on to win their next 8 games, mostly in blowout fashion, except for the Week 12 regular season tilt with Iowa, where their D made a late stand, holding them to a FG instead of a game deciding TD. Their potent offense put up enough points to make them the #1 seed in the East.
They rolled over #8 and #5 seeds Sin City and Myrtle Beach to appear in the conference championship in a rematch vs. the Hogeyes. Although they were down 28-10 going into the 4th quarter, they pulled off a miraculous, Buffalo/Houston type comeback, outscoring Iowa 28-6 in the 4th quarter, to win 38-34.
Detroit Revolvers at Sleepy Hollow Horsemen
Hard to garner anything from common opponents played as the only opponent both teams played was Eastern 3-13 Cleveland Playmakers Energy. Detroit beat them 181-0 and Sleepy Hollow beat them 228-0.
Detroit arrives in the championship game with the 5th ranked offense and 1st ranked defense. Sleepy Hollow counters with the 1st ranked offense and the 4th ranked defense.
QB Theodore Stone of the Horsemen has been electric, passing for 1036 yds and 10 TD's in 3 playoff games. Detroit has been paced by RB Big Boff who sits at 372 yds and 9 TD's. He's been helped in his cause by Detroit's great o-line, led by G Jason "Big Cheese" Spitz with 35 pancakes. Both teams have sack masters at DE with Detroit's Tyler Page sitting at 7 sacks, 10 hurries and Sleepy Hollow's James Nixon at 5 sacks.
Scouting Bar - EVEN
Chemistry (overall) – Sleepy Hollow, +18
Should be a great game. Congrats again to these two great teams!
