I think a possession receiver can be very useful. Nowadays CB builds are getting better and speed/agility only can't be the only thing relied on. We're seeing forums topics still popping up asking how to stop Pass Deflections, and the answer is simple...with a possession receiver. Being able to catch the ball in traffic even if the pass is deflected is huge.

Possession reciever has his place, but a balanced WR is the way to go to compliment a Speed WR. Your guy has to have some kind of wheels.

Meh! A 14-2 season with two possession WR and a balanced guy says differently, it's all dependant on system and tactics. Yes there's a lot of bad builds but a true possession WR is a huge asset to the team (you can make a whole drive from just passing to them if your desperate). I'd have to study the marketplace more to give true accuracy judgement on your statement though.

I agree. It all comes down to how you view WRs. If you look at stats for averages and such, a speedster will always wins hands down-more tds and yards on less catches. Only when you examine closely what a possession WR actually does for the team, bailing them out when the other guys are tightly covered, then do you understand their importance.

It's just like real football, unfortunately. The guys who are reliable and can bail teams out won't get credit or recognition, but the guy who drops 5 passes a game and has that one big 50 yard score is going to be the one everyone wants to be like and own.

The thing is most people that call themselves possession receivers really aren't even that. They'll just cap all their main attributes and call it possession.

Im not saying possession receivers are useless just on the marketplace possession receiver means they messed up and have 30 speed and 30 catching at level 15

That's because they got laughed out of the market place when they labeled them speedsters and had to change their adds.
