I never really noticed, but my DE (which is largely agility based) is kind of getting boned by the excessive play of some supped up DT's. Watch some of the plays from our most recent game and watch what happens with my guy and the DT's.

My player is the RDE-Rock McLovin and my team is the Guam Gorillas. He's going against a level 11 OT and he himself is level 36. He ended up with an early sack, but I was wondering what happened when he blew by the OT early and never ended up with even another hurry. Then I noticed that the DT's were getting such fabulous penetration that they were almost getting in my guy's way. He also had some hurries that he didn't seem to get credit for. But it's funny to watch him just absolutely blow by the OT like he's standing still, but never get to the QB.

So I guess the question for the forum is:

Are the stepped up abilities of pass rushing DT's stepping on the virtual nuts of the DE's this year, contributing to their decline?

this is probably pretty far from truth.

Maybe. I'm just throwing it out there UD. Watch how many times the DT penetrates and then gets right in front of the DE who had to go the long way.

It's hard to know, there are also situations like http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=313572&pbp_id=11144421 where my DT eats the LG and the LOT and let's my friend's RDE walk to the QB. I would say in blowout situations though, DTs definitely steal DE stats.

Yup. This happens all the time against weaker opponents. It becomes a footrace to the QB. Only one player can win, and it's usually the player taking the shortest path to the QB (i.e. bullrushing DT or DE). An agility-based DE gets to the party too late.

i'm okay with DT/NT stealing sacks.

Gawd knows that they don't get enough acclaim for the role they play.

well owning a d.t. and d.e. on the same line I would say my d.e. steals more sacks than anyone on the line. But my D.T. can get better penetration more consistently, even being far out leveled against some teams. He has beat a level 41 guard for a sack this season being level 33. MY D.E. on the other hand, hasn't beat anyone worth claiming. It's been mostly low 30's and mid 20's for him.
